Overview

Law enforcement have arrested a person and are questioning them in potential connection to the death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Here are the details.

A man has been detained Monday and is being questioned over possible involvement in the murder, the New York Times reported.

The person was detained by local police and is in custody on local charges, which could be related to fake identification that was shown to police, the report said.

In his possession at the time of the arrest were fake identification documents and a gun made from parts bought online, commonly referred to as a ghost gun, the report said.

The Times report said the man detained at the Pennsylvania McDonald's had written a manifesto. Law enforcement said the manifesto criticized health care companies for focusing on profits instead of health care.

Police have not released the suspect's name and he is under arrest on the local charges and has not been arrested or charged related to last week's murder.

What's Next: New York police are traveling to Altoona to conduct their investigation.

Police have been looking for a suspect since last Wednesday's murder, sharing video and photos to the public to help with the search. Police said the shooter left New York via bus after the shooting.

The Times report said the suspect who is in custody came to Altoona via a Greyhound bus.

Police said the attack on Thompson was believed to be preplanned and premeditated, with bullets and shell casings inscribed with words that might suggest a motive. It is unknown whether the shooter in last week's attack planned the attack themselves or was hired to carry it out.

New York police offered a reward of up to $10,000 for information that led to the arrest of the suspect in Thompson's murder.

UNH Price Action: UnitedHealth Group stock is trading downs lightly at $547.85 on Monday versus a 52-week trading range of $436.38 to $630.73. The stock is down 10% over the last five trading days.
