Sound Burger's Iconic 80s Portable Turntable Returns In New Avatar — With Bluetooth, USB-C And More

Audio-Technica's iconic Sound Burger is back, with features catering to modern listeners.

What Happened: After about 40 years and countless clones, Audio-Technica released the updated model of Sound Berger with several high-end features. This includes Bluetooth connectivity and a built-in lithium-ion battery with USB-C charging, reported Engadget.

The company has made multiple tweaks to its original product.

The updated model gives 12 hours of continuous playback before it needs to be charged. That means the days of C-cell batteries to power this portable turntable are in the past.

Users also won't find an extendable cord hanger for headphones as the new model doesn't come with a complimentary pair like its predecessor. Instead, it will be accompanied by an RCA cable to physically connect the turntable to a system, if required.

For the most part, the new model is almost like what people fondly remember. Like its predecessor, the updated model features a DC motor with a belt drive that can play 33 1/3 and 45 RPM records. Simply put, users can use it to listen to both full-length LPs and singles. Visually also, it looks as iconic as it did back in 1983, the report noted.

The 2022 model is now available for purchase at $199, whereas the vintage model is priced at $500 on eBay Inc. EBAY.
