'Consumers Expect More From Cannabis Producers': Organigram Unveils THCV Products From Exclusive Genetics

Organigram Holdings Inc. OGI OGI has introduced its inaugural line of THCV products under the SHRED and Trailblazer brands.

The company has invested strategically in Phylos Bioscience, a leading US-based cannabis genetics company to secure a competitive edge in the cannabis sector.

Organigram reports that it cultivates and internally extracts THCV at its state-of-the-art Moncton facility, establishing itself as the sole licensed Canadian producer to undertake this process.

Reshaping Cannabis Experiences Through Strategic Investments

Megan McCrae, senior VP of marketing and communications at Organigram, emphasized the company's commitment to exceeding consumer expectations and reshaping the cannabis experience by leveraging the potential of THCV through strategic investments.

“In this era of heightened awareness, we recognize that consumers expect more from cannabis producers, and our commitment as an industry-leading Licensed Producer is to exceed those expectations. By harnessing the power of THCV through our strategic investment, we are reshaping the cannabis experience for consumers,” said McCrae.

THCV + R&D: OGI’s Competitive Advantage

The company reported THCV is a cannabinoid recognized for its appetite-suppressing properties and is gaining attention for its reported non-psychoactive nature and its potential to counteract certain aspects of THC.

  • Organigram holds exclusive Canadian rights to Phylos' THCV cultivars, including popular variants like Get S**t Done (1:3 THC:THCV) and Joyride (1:1 THC:THCV), which boast remarkably high THCV concentrations. These cultivars have varying THC:THCV ratios, offering distinct user experiences across different product formats.
  • Organigram's first THCV range comprises products such as SHRED’ems Guava Lime Go–Time, featuring an initial 1:1 THC:THCV ratio, and Trailblazer Zen Garden Grapefruit, a sugar-free gummy with an initial 1:2 THC:THCV ratio.
