LG Display Co Ltd was incorporated in February 1985 under its original name of LG Soft, Ltd. In February 2008, the Company changed its name from LG.Philips LCD Co., Ltd to LG Display Co., Ltd. The Company manufactures TFT-LCD and OLED technology-based display panels in a broad range of sizes and specifications for use in televisions, notebook computers, desktop monitors, tablet computers and mobile devices, including smartphones. It also manufacture TFT-LCD panels for industrial and other applications, including entertainment systems, automotive displays, portable navigation devices and medical diagnostic equipment. The Company operates fabrication facilities located in its Display Clusters in Gumi and Paju, Korea and in Guangzhou, China. It also operates module facilities located in China (Nanjing, Guangzhou and Yantai), Korea (Gumi and Paju) and Poland (Wroclaw). The Company's competitors are Samsung Display and Hydis Technologies in Korea, Japan Display, Sharp and Panasonic LCD in Japan, AU Optronics, Innolux, Chunghwa Picture Tubes and HannStar Display in Taiwan; BOE and China Star Optoelectronics in China.
