The Company together with its subsidiaries is engaged in providing paper-based packaging solutions for food, beverage and other consumer product companies. The Company produces folding cartons in the United States (U.S.) and also offers coated unbleached kraft paperboard and coated-recycled boxboard. The Company operates in three segments including Paperboard Mills, Americas Paperboard Packaging and Europe Paperboard Packaging. The Company's Paperboard Mills includes the seven North American paperboard mills which produces coated unbleached kraft (CUK) and coated recycled board (CRB); Americas Paperboard Packaging includes paperboard packaging folding cartons sold primarily to Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies serving the food, beverage, and consumer product markets in the Americas; and Europe Paperboard Packaging includes paperboard packaging folding cartons sold primarily to CPG companies serving the food, beverage and consumer product markets in Europe. The Company also operates in three geographic areas including Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. The Company offers paperboard packaging solutions for the end-use markets including beverage, including beer, soft drinks, energy drinks, teas, water and juices; food, including cereal, desserts, frozen, refrigerated and microwavable foods and pet foods; prepared foods, including snacks, quick-serve foods for restaurants and food service products; and household products, including dishwasher and laundry detergent, health care and beauty aids, and tissues and papers. The Company produces paperboard at its mills; prints, cuts, folds, and glues (converts) the paperboard into folding cartons at its converting plants; and designs and manufactures specialized, proprietary packaging machines that package bottles and cans and, to a lesser extent, non-beverage consumer products. The Company also installs its packaging machines at customer plants and provides support, service and advanced performance monitoring of the machines. The Company offers laminated, coated and printed packaging structures that are produced from its CUK and CRB, as well as other grades of paperboard that are purchased from third-party suppliers. The Company faces competition from companies including WestRock Company in the U.S., The Klabin Company in Brazil and Stora Enzo in Sweden. The Company's paperboard competes with WestRock CUK, as well as CRB and solid bleach sulfate (SBS) from numerous competitors, and internationally, folding boxboard and white-lined chip. The Company operations are supported by trademarks including Fridge Vendor, IntegraPak, MicroFlex-Q, MicroRite, Quilt Wave, Qwik Crisp, Tite-Pak, and Z-Flute. The Company is subject to federal, state and local environmental regulations and employs a team of professionals in order to maintain compliance at each of its facilities.
