On Monday, Eli Lilly And Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LLY#NYSE">LLY</a>)&nbsp;announced data from a VIVID-1 Phase 3 study that evaluated the safety and efficacy of mirikizumab compared with a placebo and active control (Johnson &amp; Johnson&#8217;s (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/jnj#NYSE">JNJ</a>) Stelara (ustekinumab)) in adults with moderately to severely <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/10/n41309730/lilly-reports-one-year-histologic-outcomes-in-phase-3-study-of-mirikizumab-compared-to-ustekinumab" rel="noreferrer noopener">active Crohn&#8217;s disease</a>.&nbsp;
The data showed that more patients achieved&nbsp;histologic response were observed with mirikizumab at Week 52 in the overall population (58.2% versus 48.8%; p=0.0075).

In patients with active histologic disease at baseline and with at least one prior biologic failure, mirikizumab also showed greater histologic response at Week 52 (56.5% versus 41.3%; p=0.0064) and endoscopic-histologic response at Week 52 (39.6% versus 27.8%; p=0.024).
The overall safety profile of mirikizumab in patients with moderately to severely active Crohn&#8217;s disease was consistent with the known safety profile in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC).
The frequency of serious adverse events was greater in placebo than mirikizumab. The most common adverse events were COVID-19, anemia, arthralgia, headache, upper respiratory tract infection, nasopharyngitis, and injection site reactions.&nbsp;
&#8220;As the first company to report rigorous histologic and endo-histologic&nbsp;outcomes in Crohn&#8217;s disease that align with a recent ECCO position statement, Lilly is setting a higher bar for the evaluation of long-term treatment response in inflammatory bowel disease. This includes more ambitious targets of mucosal healing, which we applied to compare mirikizumab&#8217;s histo-endoscopic effect to ustekinumab,&#8221; said&nbsp;Mark Genovese, senior vice president of Lilly Immunology development.
Mirikizumab is approved for moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis (UC) in adults and is marketed as Omvoh.
Mirikizumab has additional ongoing trials in UC, including a study in pediatric patients and a study to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of mirikizumab in adults.

More Patients On Eli Lilly's Mirikizumab Achieved Histologic Response At One Year Compared To Johnson & Johnson's Drug

Inventiva SA (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IVA#NASDAQ">IVA</a>) stock traded higher on Monday, with a strong session volume of 8.55 million compared to an average volume of 9.91k, according to data from <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pro/feature/newsfeed" rel="noreferrer noopener">Benzinga Pro</a>.
The company announced it has secured financing of immediately 94.1 million euros ($99.36 million) and up to 348 million euros ($379.55 million) to fund the completion of the Phase 3 NATiV3 MASH trial and preparation for the potential filing for marketing approval and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/10/g41307619/inventiva-announces-financing-of-up-to-348-million-to-advance-the-nativ3-phase-3-mash-study" rel="noreferrer noopener">commercialization of lanifibranor</a>.
The Transaction was led by New Enterprise Associates, BVF Partners LP, and Samsara BioCapital, with the participation of additional existing and new investors.

Pursuant to the Transaction and subject to shareholder approval at the next general meeting to be convened by December 16, 2024, the company appointed Mark Pruzanski as Chairman and Srinivas Akkaraju as director.
Each of the other four largest investors is to name up to four additional directors, of whom at least two will qualify as independent and would replace existing directors (excluding Frederic Cren, Mark Pruzanski, and Srini Akkaraju).
The company also estimates that, before the Transaction, it would need approximately 250 million euros to finance its activities until the topline results from its NATiV3 trial, targeted for the second half of 2026.
This estimate includes an estimated 130 million-135 million euros needed to finance the company&#8217;s activities over the next 12 months mentioned above.
In February, Inventiva announced it stopped enrolling new patients in the NATiV3 Phase 3 trial for lanifibranor in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) due to a reported&nbsp;serious&nbsp;adverse reaction. This reaction involved elevated liver enzymes in a&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/24/02/37182374/why-is-liver-disease-focused-inventiva-stock-trading-lower-today" rel="noreferrer noopener">patient undergoing treatment</a>.
In March, the company <a target="_blank" href="https://inventivapharma.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Inventiva-PR-NATiV3-screening-update-EN-03-07-2024-final.pdf" rel="noreferrer noopener">lifted</a> the previously disclosed voluntary pause on screening and randomization of its NATiV3 clinical trial, and sites are resuming screening activities.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Sources Of Funding For Cannabis Startups</h3>
Moderated by Marc Claybon, principal-tax at Crowe, the session featured Tayyaba Khan, partner at Cassels; Adam Stettner, CEO of FundCanna; Anthony Coniglio. CEO of NewLake Capital Partners (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NLCP#OTC">NLCP</a>) and Charles Alovisetti, partner at Vicente LLP. They shared essential tips on navigating debt, equity and liquidity in today's cannabis market.
&#8220;For newer companies, friends and family <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/06/39421104/the-banking-crisis-for-cannabis-has-been-over-for-several-years-experts-discuss-whats-next">funding</a> is often the only option,&#8221; Alovisetti said, pointing out that more established businesses can tap into broader sources such as state grants, social equity programs, or hard money lenders. However, he added, "Not every business is a good candidate for<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/09/40970636/dont-let-hidden-debt-fool-you-how-cannabis-investors-can-tell-if-they-are-safe"> debt</a>. You have to consider cash flow and collateral.&#8221;
While startups may struggle to secure traditional financing, larger, more established cannabis operators may have access to sale-leaseback agreements or other forms of asset-backed lending.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Equity Vs. Debt: What Works For Your Business?</h3>
Khan detailed the pros and cons of equity versus debt financing. <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/23/09/34793300/mso-financial-health-debt-restructuring-vs-equity-raises-analyst-digs-into-spreadsh">Equity financing </a>offers flexibility, as businesses do not have to repay funds immediately, but it comes at the cost of ownership. &#8220;You&#8217;re giving up a piece of your company, and investors will likely want a say in decision-making,&#8221; she explained.
Debt, on the other hand, allows companies to retain ownership but comes with <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/08/40133747/out-of-pocket-which-u-s-cannabis-company-owes-the-most-money-in-2024">repayment obligations</a>. &#8220;Debt is cheaper capital than equity,&#8221; Khan said but warned that companies need to carefully manage their cash flow to meet repayment schedules. Interest payments may offer tax deductions, but missing debt payments can lead to default or loss of assets.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Debt Can&#8217;t Wait: Tackling The AR Dilemma</h3>
A recurring challenge in the cannabis industry is the management of accounts receivable (AR). Stettner highlighted this issue. &#8220;The one thing that we&#8217;re universally dealing with is delinquent AR. It doesn't matter where you are in the supply chain—it&#8217;s an issue.&#8221;
The mismatch between payment terms and revenue cycles exacerbates the problem. &#8220;It's very hard as a purchaser to make payment on goods when you don't have revenue from the goods you've purchased,&#8221; Stettner said. He urged businesses to ensure that their debt repayment schedules align with revenue cycles. &#8220;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/06/39470114/debt-deadline-looms-how-cannabis-companies-financial-health-could-impact-your-portf">Debt is not a four-letter word</a>," he joked, noting that even companies like Apple and Google use leverage for growth. "It's about doing it right.&#8221;
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Real Estate: Lease, Own Or Sale-Leaseback?</h3>
Real estate is a critical issue for cannabis businesses and the complexities are magnified by the disconnect between federal and state laws. Coniglio pointed out that most landlords with federally-backed mortgages are prohibited from leasing to cannabis companies, creating a significant barrier. &#8220;This forces many operators to buy properties outright, tying up capital that could be used elsewhere,&#8221; he said.
Cannabis businesses have <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/23/11/35662129/are-traditional-cannabis-licensing-models-obsolete-how-reverse-licensing-can-help">several options </a>when dealing with real estate challenges.&nbsp;
Some choose to buy and then finance their property through banks, though this often comes at a &#8220;haircut to the non-cannabis value,&#8221; as Coniglio described it. Others turn to specialized lending or sale-leaseback agreements.&nbsp;
In a sale-leaseback, companies sell their property to a<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/cannabis-reit"> real estate investment trust</a> (REIT) or another buyer, then lease it back under a long-term agreement. This allows them to unlock the capital tied up in real estate while continuing operations.
Coniglio explained that each option has its pros and cons, and businesses need to assess their long-term strategies. &#8220;Real estate is a core part of any cannabis business, and companies need to explore all their options carefully,&#8221; he concluded.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Cash Flow: The Lifeblood of Cannabis Finance</h3>
Throughout the discussion, the panelists repeatedly stressed the importance of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/10/41237666/exclusive-tax-changes-could-unlock-hundreds-of-millions-in-cash-flow-for-cannabis-sector-experts">cash flow</a>. "Cash flow is the most <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/07/39609582/europe-is-turning-cash-flow-positive-well-see-what-happens-in-the-u-s-largest-canna">critical part </a>of this whole conversation," Coniglio said. Whether pursuing debt or equity financing, investors will always examine a company's cash flow to determine its ability to repay loans or generate returns.
Stettner agreed, warning that businesses must focus on realistic cash flow projections. &#8220;Nobody is going to lend you money if they don't see how you'll pay it back,&#8221; he said.

&#8220;He is pushing the crypto industry overseas,&#8221; Cuban told POLITICO in an email on Monday. &#8220;He is perfecting regulation through litigation, stifling growth in the capital markets, reducing the number of companies going public and going on what seems like witch hunts for big names.&#8221;

&#8220;We would absolutely welcome Mark Cuban as chair of the SEC, if that&#8217;s the way Harris wanted to go,&#8221; she said.
Jeff Hauser, executive director of the Revolving Door Project, disagrees.

Cuban initially didn't plan to stay long in Dallas, but life had other plans, as it often does. A few months after his arrival, he landed a job selling software.&nbsp;
But this gig didn't last long either – he got fired when he prioritized a potential $15,000 sale over opening the office one morning, much to his boss's dismay. &#8220;I had a $1,500 commission on the line,&#8221; Cuban noted, describing his disbelief at being let go over what seemed like a golden opportunity.

<h3>SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust </h3>
SPY (ARCA: SPY) is currently trading near our key level of 580.67. For the bulls, we&#39;re looking for a rally to push the price up to 581.97. If this level is held firmly as support, buyers could drive the price higher to 583.18. If the market maintains its bullish momentum above this level, we may see an upward move towards 585.37. The high bull target for today&rsquo;s session is set at 587.31.
If 580.67 fails to act as support, we anticipate the bears to step in and challenge the next level at 579.12. Should the selling pressure intensify, a breakdown toward 577.87 could be in play. If this level gives way, we expect the bears to target 576.62. A strong sell-off could lead to a move down to our low bear target of 575.67.
<h3>Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1</h3>
QQQ&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/qqq#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>) is currently hovering near the important level of 495.35. Bullish traders will want to see a strong hold above this level, with a potential move up to 496.94. If buyers remain in control, we could see continued momentum pushing the price toward 498.37. If the session turns strongly bullish, a test of the next resistance at 499.44 is possible. The high bull target for the day is 501.07.
If 495.35 fails to hold during the trading session, we expect the bears to test lower levels, starting with 493.60. If selling persists, the price could break down further to 491.82. Continued bearish pressure may push the price to test support at 490.05. If this level is breached, the low bear target for the day sits at 487.69.
<h3>Apple Inc. </h3>
Apple&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/aapl#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) is currently trading around 229.03, which is a key level for today&rsquo;s action. For the bulls to stay in control, we need to see this level hold as support. A move higher could take the price to 230.25. If the buying pressure continues, we expect the auction to push the price toward 231.76. Should the bulls maintain strength, Apple could reach its high bull target for the day at 233.28.
If 229.03 does not hold as support, we will be watching for a drop to 227.82. If sellers remain in control, we anticipate the auction moving further down to 226.90. A break below this level could bring 225.31 into play. Continued sell-side action may drive the price lower, with the low bear target set at 223.87.
<h3>Microsoft Corp.</h3>
Microsoft&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/msft#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) is currently trading near 416.32, and bulls will be looking for this level to act as support. If the price holds firm, we could see a move higher to 417.25. Sustained buying pressure may push the price toward 419.17. If today&rsquo;s session sees a bullish breakout, Microsoft could test the high bull target at 420.26.
If 416.32 fails to hold during regular trading hours, the bears may push the price down to test 414.56. If selling continues, the auction could probe lower at 413.14. Should downside momentum persist, the price could fall to 411.72. The low bear target for today&rsquo;s session is 410.64.
<h3>NVIDIA Corporation</h3>

If buyers are able to hold this level, we anticipate an upward move to 136.98. Continued strength could push the price up to 137.94. If the buying pressure remains strong, NVIDIA may test its high bull target at 139.42.
Should 135.64 fail to hold as support, the bears may target 134.56. If sellers maintain control, we could see a move lower to 133.31. A breakdown below this level could lead to a test of 132.19. The low bear target for NVIDIA in today&rsquo;s session is set at 131.42.
<h3>Alphabet Inc Class A </h3>
Alphabet (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/googl#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) is currently hovering near the 163.79 level. Bulls will be watching for a hold above this level, potentially pushing the price up to 165.41. If buyers remain in control, we could see continued strength up to 167.04, which is the high bull target for today.
If 163.79 fails to hold, we anticipate the bears will try to take control and push the price down to 161.79. A break below this level could lead to further downside action, with a test of 160.36 likely. If the selling intensifies, the low bear target for Alphabet is 158.54.
<h3>Meta Platforms Inc </h3>
Meta&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/meta#NASDAQ">META</a>) is trading near 591.29, which is a crucial level for the bulls. If this level holds as support, we could see a move higher to 598.17. A strong bullish auction could lead the price to test the next key resistance at 604.50. The high bull target for the day is set at 609.30.
If 591.29 cannot be held as support, we expect the bears to target 585.73. If selling pressure increases, the auction may drive the price lower to 580.17. Continued downside momentum could result in a move to the low bear target of 573.25.
