Asustek Computer Posts 34% Surge In Q2 Profit, Expects Rise In Shipments

reported a 34% rise in its second-quarter earnings. Asustek's quarterly net profit surged to 4.82 billion New Taiwan dollars (US$160.9 million), from NT$3.60 billion, in the year-ago period. However, analysts were expecting a net profit of NT$4.37 billion. Its revenue climbed 31% to NT$94.20 billion, versus NT$71.67 billion. In the third quarter, Asustek projects to ship 4.8 million notebook PC, versus 4.4 million shipments in the second quarter.
