Cohen shares his best tips on stress-free college planning; live stops in Boston and Chicago; $5,000 scholarship sweepstakes

College Ave Student Loans announces it has teamed up with New York Times bestselling author Harlan Cohen for College Success Night, a webinar and live tour in select cities that gives parents and their teens a chance to prepare, plan and navigate the road ahead. Cohen will give live presentations in Boston and Chicago, with a free, live College Success Night webinar available to all families on March 13 at 8 p.m ET.

A recent College Ave Student Loans survey by Barnes & Noble College Insights finds more than 1 in 3 parents (39%) feel paying for college is more stressful than paying for their mortgage. To help parents and their students navigate the financial road ahead and have the best first year, Cohen offers helpful, actionable tips to make it a stress-free life change.

"I want the first year of college to be a healthy and successful year for students and their parents," says Cohen, New York Times bestselling author of The Naked Roommate: And 107 Other Issues You Might Run Into in College. "There are several changes – even small actions – parents and their child can make to set themselves up to be better equipped to navigate all the big transitions ahead."

"Sixty-nine percent of parents surveyed say that paying for college is one of the most stressful times during the college planning process," says Joe DePaulo, CEO and Co-Founder of College Ave Student Loans. "We are excited to team up with Harlan Cohen to help families navigate a better path forward with useful tools and advice."

Cohen will help parents and their students have ‘The Best First Year,' and cover topics, such as:

  • 5 questions every student and parent should ask to get the real story about finances, academics and life on campus
  • Latest facts, stats, and trends students and parents need to know about college search and selection
  • Actionable strategies to prepare, plan, and navigate the first year in college
  • 5 simple rules for college parents

During the webinar and tour, Cohen will share some of his best tips and advice to help make the transition to college less stressful for everyone. "Go to all summer pre-college programs and orientation events," says Cohen. "Every student needs to identify three places on campus where they will find a connection and community before applying and arriving on campus."

College Ave also wants to help ease the financial road to college and is offering a chance to win a $5,000 scholarship. To learn more about Cohen's webinar and tour, visit: collegeave.com/highschool.
