Tesla Cybertruck To Join The Ranks Of Most American-Made Pickup Trucks

Zinger Key Points
  • Tesla has the top four most American-made cars last year.
  • The Monroney sticker for the Cybertruck discloses the final assembly will take place in Austin, Texas.

Tesla Inc TSLA is reinforcing its reputation for producing vehicles with significant American-made content, and the upcoming Cybertruck is set to bolster that trend.

The all-electric automaker is known for its uncommon approach to vehicle production, characterized by a high degree of vertical integration compared to other car manufacturers.

Tesla, like any automaker, relies on suppliers for the myriad parts that go into a vehicle. The company, though, had consistently emphasized incorporating more parts into its manufacturing process and prioritizing local production.

Tesla's strategy had proven successful, as evidenced by the company having the top four most American-made cars last year, with the company standing out as the only American automaker in the top 10.

Per Electrek,  the Cybertruck is expected to continue this pattern of domestic production.

Newly released information from the Cybertruck's Monroney sticker, a label required on all new vehicles sold in the U.S. and containing details such as EPA ratings and parts sourcing, revealed a high U.S. and Canadian parts content of 65%, with a significant portion of foreign parts being sourced from Mexico at 25%.

The Monroney sticker for the Cybertruck disclosed the final assembly will take place in Austin, Texas, with both motor and gearbox/transmission assembly also being carried out in the U.S. Furthermore, the sticker confirmed battery assembly and on-board charger assembly is completed in Austin.

These factors should make the Cybertruck one of the most American-made pickup trucks. This distinction aligned with Tesla's ongoing commitment to domestic manufacturing and could enhance the truck's appeal to patriotic consumers and those looking to support local industry.
