Discord Is Down: People Are Seeing A 'Blocked' Message, Here's What You Need To Know

Popular instant messaging app Discord is down for users around the world, with many users reporting that they are seeing a "Sorry, you have been blocked" message when they open the app.

What Happened: Discord is down for users around the world, with the Discord apps on the desktop, web, and mobile, all throwing up the "Sorry, you have been blocked" error message.

The message further says, "You are unable to access Discord.com".

Discord has acknowledged the issue.

"We are aware of an issue preventing users from accessing the app. Our team is on the case and investigating the issue!" the company said in an update.

Popular downtime detection service Downdetector has also seen a massive spike in users reporting issues in accessing Discord from around the world.

On Reddit, too, users are worked up and worried if their accounts have been blocked, with r/discordapp seeing a flurry of posts from users with the "blocked" message.

Benzinga has independently verified the downtime, too, with members seeing the same "blocked" message on their devices.

Update: Discord says it is still investigating the issue as of 9 a.m. ET.

"We’re experiencing unusual traffic spikes that lead to users being temporary [sic] blocked and we’re working on mitigating this issue," Discord says on its status page.
