Tesla Owners Can Now Buy An Extended Warranty Directly From The EV Company's App

Tesla, Inc's TSLA has introduced new extended service warranties for its electric vehicle (EV) lineup, according to Electrek.

These can be purchased directly through the company's mobile app. The newly-launched offering covers a period of two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first.

EVs traditionally have two primary warranties: a vehicle (or bumper-to-bumper) warranty and a powertrain warranty that covers the battery pack and electric motor.

The extended warranties are available for Tesla's Model S, $3,100; Model X, $3,500; Model 3, $1,800' and Model Y, $2,000; vehicles. Pricing varies according to the specific model.

Tesla hopes the new offering enhances customer satisfaction, makes vehicle ownership more convenient and eliminates the need for visiting a dealership or service center. The mobile app integration streamlines the purchasing process for extended warranties, offering Tesla owners an easy way to secure additional coverage for their EVs, while also giving Tesla another source of easy revenue.
