Chess.com, Playwire Enter Strategic Advertising Partnership

Chess.com, the leading chess company and popular website for gaming, and Playwire, a global technology company specializing in revenue amplification, have signed an exclusive digital advertising partnership.

The partnership is particularly important for Playwire, which is expanding its presence in the gaming industry. For Chess, it unlocks access to different brands in the video game and advertising space.

Anthony Berrena, SVP of Global Revenue at Playwire, stated in a release, “Chess.com is a major player in the online gaming industry and a great opportunity for the advertisers we work with in the gaming niche. We’re excited to be expanding the size and diversity of the gaming audience that our partners have access to within our growing media portfolio.”

The popularity of chess in the gaming universe has exploded, particularly on Amazon’s AMZN Twitch streaming platform. The classic game has its own category, and carries over 850,000 followers. Most streams highlight Chess.com’s platform. The website also hosts more than five million chess games a day.

“This new partnership aligns with our efforts to grow sponsorships and reach additional brands within the gaming industry," said Brenan Klain, COO of Chess.com. "Playwire will be a tremendous help as we continue to secure partner brands that resonate with our community, monetize user impressions, drive revenue for our business and bring the game of chess to even more people around the world.”
