Another new week, another new Apple Inc. AAPL rumor. According to 9 To 5 Mac, the release of the Apple Watch 2 is "imminent" and will feature "several flagship changes."
9 To 5 Mac, citing KG Securities' "reliable" Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the new Apple Watch will come equipped with a GPS, barometer, improved waterproofing protection and a new internal SoC to boost performance. The new watch could be announced alongside the iPhone 7 in September and launch in late 2016.
The publication isn't expecting any physical design changes to the Watch and the upgrade is the equivalent of an iPhone "S upgrade." As such, customers who were expecting a thinner body or an overall different look may be disappointed for the time being. However, it is possible that major changes to the appearance "appear to be on the cards" for the Apple Watch 3.
The report also said that the analyst is expecting Apple to sell a "spec-bumped" version of its current Watch with a new SoC to improve CPU and GPU performance.
Kuo also suggested that Apple could sell the Apple Watch 1 below the $200 mark, and the Watch 2 could also see a price cut.
