The word on the street is that Apple
AAPL will actually change the look of its MacBook Air computers in the coming year.
Bear in mind that this has been a steady rumor for the MacBook line of computers since last winter. This time, however, the news comes from
DigiTimes (via
Forbes), which claims to have spoken to “sources in the upstream supply chain.”
These sources claim that, in addition to the MacBook Air, the iMac, iPad and iPhone are also supposed to get an overhaul.
Now read that sentence again and ask yourself the following question: what's missing from that list?
The MacBook Pro!
Rumored to be phased out with a thinner, lighter, flash-based memory power machine, the days of the MacBook Pro may indeed be numbered. But considering their power advantage over the Air, their cost effectiveness, and their overall appeal to most Mac users, it's hard for me to believe that that the Pro will disappear in 2012.
