“If you hate what’s going on in California, what are you going to do about it?” Roger Volodarsky, founder and CEO of Puffco, posed this question during his recent appearance on Benzinga's "Cannabis Insider" show.
Volodarsky's sentiment extends beyond just discontent. It’s a challenge to informed citizens and experts who feel strongly about state regulations and political decisions.
“You seem to be informed. You seem to know what regulations should be. Are you going to run? Are you going to try to work with them? Well then, you’re just conceding that their perspective will be the one that wins,” he stressed.

The crux of his message is about representation and taking an active role in shaping the future, especially in the dynamic landscape of cannabis regulations. Roger elaborated on the importance of representatives understanding and prioritizing industry needs. “If you’re listening to this and you hate what they’re saying and you have the bandwidth or the will to get involved in politics in some way, we need representation,” he said.
It’s not just about complaining but acting. He believes change won't come about by "compelling ignorant politicians". Instead, it's about ushering in informed individuals to governmental roles.
Volodarsky's call to action was clear: “It happens by putting our people into the government. So I hope there’s more of that in the future.”
