The Company has five reportable segments including Private Client Group, Capital Markets, Asset Management, RJ Bank and the other segment. Private Client Group segment provides securities transaction and financial planning services to approximately 2.7 million client accounts through the branch office systems of RJ&A, RJFS, RJFSA, RJ Ltd. and in the United Kingdom through Raymond James Investment Services Limited. The Capital Markets segment is engaged in providing equity and fixed income products and services. The Asset Management segment includes the operations of Eagle, the Eagle Family of Funds, the asset management operations of RJ&A, Raymond James Trust, National Association, a wholly owned subsidiary of RJF, and other fee-based programs. RJ Bank provides corporate, residential and consumer loans, as well as FDIC insured deposit accounts, to clients of its broker-dealer subsidiaries and to the general public. The Other segment includes its main capital and private equity activities as well as various corporate costs of RJF. The Company operates in the United States and Canada. The Company competes with other providers of financial services, including other securities firms, which are affiliated with financial services companies, insurance companies, banking institutions and other organizations. It also competes with a number of firms offering online financial services and discount brokerage services, usually with lower levels of service, to individual clients. The financial services industry in the U.S. is subject to extensive regulation under federal and state laws.
