Northfield Bancorp Inc, a Delaware Corporation was organized in June 2010. The Company through its main subsidiary, Northfield Bank, provides various banking services mainly to individuals and corporate customers in Richmond and Kings Counties, in New York, and Union and Middlesex Counties, in New Jersey. The Bank's main business consists of originating multifamily and other commercial real estate loans, purchasing investment securities, including mortgage-backed securities and corporate bonds, and to a lesser extent depositing funds in other financial institutions. It also offers construction and land loans, commercial and industrial loans, one-to-four family residential mortgage loans, and home equity loans and lines of credit. It offers various deposit accounts, including certificates of deposit, passbook, statement, and money market savings accounts, transaction deposit accounts, individual retirement accounts, and to a lesser extent when it is deemed cost effective, brokered deposits. Deposits are the Bank's main source of funds for its lending and investing activities. It also borrows funds, mainly repurchase agreements with brokers and Federal Home Loan Bank of New York advances. The Company competes with other financial institutions, including large money center and regional banks, community banks, credit unions, brokerage firms, mutual funds, and insurance companies. The Company is subject to extensive supervision, regulation, and examination by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
