Intercontinental Exchange Inc was previously known as Inter continental Exchange Group, Inc. and changed its name to Intercontinental Exchange, Inc., a Delaware corporation, on June 2, 2014. The predecessor entity to Intercontinental Exchange Holdings, Inc. was established in May 2000. The Company is an operator of regulated exchanges, clearing houses and data services for financial and commodity markets. It operate global marketplaces for trading and clearing a broad array of securities and derivatives contracts across major asset classes, including energy and agricultural commodities, interest rates, equities, equity derivatives, credit derivatives, bonds and currencies. The Company's regulated exchanges include: futures exchanges in the United States, or U.S., United Kingdom, or U.K., Canada, Singapore and Europe, three securities exchanges and two equity options exchanges. It also operates over-the-counter, or OTC, markets for physical energy and credit default swaps, or CDS. It currently owns or operates seven central counterparty clearing houses. Through its widely-distributed electronic trading, clearing and post-trade platforms, it brings together buyers and sellers by offering liquid markets, benchmark products, access to capital markets, and a range of services to support market participants' trading and risk management activities. Its business is conducted as a single reportable business segment, and substantially all of its identifiable assets are located in the United States, United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Israel, Canada and Singapore.
