Genesis Energy LP a Delaware corporation was incorporated on September 6, 1996 as a master limited partnership. The Company through its wholly owned subsidiary Genesis Energy, LLC engages in transportation of crude oil and CO2 through onshore pipeline systems, provides related supply and logistics services and Oil refinery services. The Company is focused on the midstream segment of the oil and gas industry in the Gulf Coast region of the United States, primarily Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Wyoming and in the Gulf of Mexico. The Company's Upstream refineries, provides gathering and transportation of crude oil; Company's Within refineries, provides services to assist in their sulfur balancing requirements; and its Downstream refineries, provides transportation services as well as market outlets for their finished refined products. The Company manages its business in three divisions; Pipeline Transportation, Refinery Services, and Supply and Logistics. The Company's Pipeline Transportation Segment, owns interests in approximately 1,530 miles of crude oil pipelines located in the Gulf Coast region of the United States; and also own two CO2 pipelines. The Company's pipelines generate from fees charged to customers or substantially similar arrangements that otherwise limit exposure to changes in commodity prices. The Company's Refinery Services Segment provides services to ten refining operations located primarily in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Utah; operates storage and transportation assets in relation to those services; and sell NaHS and caustic soda to large industrial and commercial companies. Its refinery services primarily involve processing refiners' high sulfur gas streams to remove the sulfur. Its refinery services footprint also includes terminals, and utilizes railcars, ships, barges and trucks to transport product; and its refinery services contracts are typically long-term in nature and have an average remaining term of four years. The Company's Supply and Logistic Segment provides services primarily to Gulf Coast oil and gas producers and refineries through a combination of purchasing, transporting, storing, blending and marketing of crude oil and refined products. The Company's customers, operations and assets portfolio including pipelines, refinery-related plants, storage tanks and terminals, railcars, rail loading and unloading facilities, barges and trucks. The Company faces competition from other crude oil pipeline systems as well as producers; its competitors for the supply of NaHS consist primarily of parties who produce NaHS as a by-product of processes involved with agricultural pesticide products, plastic additives and lubricant viscosity; and in crude oil supply and logistics operations, it compete with other midstream service providers and regional and local companies. The Company is subject to stringent federal, state and local laws and regulations governing the discharge of materials into the environment or otherwise relating to environmental protection.
