It has three operational segments Integrated Financial Solutions, Global Financial Solutions and Corporate & Other. The Integrated Financial Solutions segment is focused on serving the North American regional & community bank market for transaction & account processing, payment solutions, channel solutions, digital channels, risk & compliance solutions and services, capitalizing on the continuing trend to outsource these solutions. The GFS segment is focused on serving the largest financial institutions around the globe with banking & payments solutions and consulting & transformation services. The Corporate and Other segment consists of corporate overhead expense, certain leveraged functions and miscellaneous expenses that are not included in the operating segments. It also provides strategic consulting services that help financial institutions define & manage their technology strategies and projects. The Company services the core and related ancillary processing needs of North American banks, credit unions, automotive financial companies, commercial lenders and independent community & savings institutions. The services delivered by FIS in these locations include many of the same financial and payments solutions it offers in North America. It provides core banking applications, channel solutions, card and merchant services, custodial services, item processing and check risk management solutions to financial institutions, card issuers and retailers. In the core processing market, it also competes with International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), Accenture Ltd., Alliance Data Systems Corporation, DST Systems, Harland Financial Solutions, Inc., SEI Investments Company. Its services are subject to a range of complex federal, state, and foreign regulation and requirements, as well as requirements under the rules of self-regulatory organizations, including federal truth-in-lending and truth-in-savings rules, Regulation AA, privacy laws, usury laws, laws governing state trust charters.
