He might not want to talk about it, but had Rod Stewart kept his former Los Angeles mansion, he might have been $80 million better off.
Stewart’s former compound has sold to two separate buyers for a total of $86 million, considerably more than the $6.25 million Stewart sold it for in 1992, reports The Wall Street Journal. The rocker sold his home to Bradley Bell, executive producer and head writer of the daytime soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and his wife, former diplomat Colleen Bell.

The couple then divided the six-acre compound into two sections, which they sold separately. The larger of the two parcels was sold to television, commercials, and film producer David Zander for $57 million, while the other, which contains a cabin that dates back to 1911, was sold to Nick Kaiser, co-founder of private-equity firm Marlin Equity Partners for about $29 million.

Holding On To His Beverly Park Estate
Stewart, who is estimated to be worth $300 million, bought the home in the 1970s, not long after he moved to the U.S. and added art nouveau features, including a disco ball, which the current sellers have long since removed. It’s not as if Stewart downsized after moving out of the home. In 1991, he spent $12 million on his long-time Beverly Hills mansion, a sprawling 33,000 square-foot custom-built home designed by architect Richard Landry on an empty three-acre lot at 23 Beverly Park Terrace. It was initially listed for $70 million, then relisted for $80 million before dropping down to $74 million.
Trending: It’s no wonder Jeff Bezos holds over $250 million in art — this alternative asset has outpaced the S&P 500 since 1995, delivering an average annual return of 11.4%. Here’s how everyday investors are getting started.
Though Stewart no longer calls the home his primary residence, he told People in 2023 that he was in no rush to sell. “Basically, I don’t want to sell it, and the kids don’t want me to sell it either,” Stewart says. “There’s too many fond memories. I’ve lived [in L.A.] since 1975, and I adore the place.”
It seems that Stewart has since permanently shelved ideas of selling. “Originally, we did think it made sense to sell our house in LA, but having spent a wonderful time there this summer with family and friends during my Vegas residency, we realized that it makes sense to keep our house there,” he told Hello! In November.
Malibu Wave House
Stewart owned another fabulous Los Angeles area home in the 1980s, a Malibu “Wave House.” Designed by architect Harry Gesner in 1957, the six-bedroom, eight-bathroom home comprises 6,200 square feet of living space and was purchased last year by model Karlie Kloss and husband Josh Kushner for $29.5 million, long after Stewart had owned it, the Journal reported.
Billionaire’s Row Home In Palm Beach
Stewart also owns an oceanfront home in Palm Beach, which he purchased in 1995. Located on “Billionaire’s Row,” the area has recently been the subject of several high-priced real estate deals.
Essex Mansion
Stewart’s current primary residence couldn’t be further from the star-studded environs of Beverly Hills or Palm Beach. His mansion in Essex, England, is valued at around $6 million. He lives there with his wife, Penny Lancaster, and their sons, Alastair and Aiden.
“We moved permanently back to our beloved Britain a year ago but are fortunate to also have homes in different countries, which we love to visit,” Stewart posted on Instagram.
