Each week, Benzinga’s Stock Whisper Index uses proprietary data and pattern recognition to highlight five stocks just under the surface that deserve attention.
Investors are constantly on the hunt for undervalued, under-followed and emerging stocks. Retail traders have countless methods at their disposal. Sifting through available information to uncover new opportunities and understand why certain stocks matter can be challenging.
Here’s a look at the Benzinga Stock Whisper Index for the week ending Nov. 6:
ViaSat Inc (NASDAQ:VSAT): The satellite company saw strong interest from readers during the week. Shares fell over 17% in the last trading week, but remain up nearly 70% year-to-date. The company recently reported second-quarter financial results with earnings per share beating analyst estimates and revenue coming in shy of estimates. ViaSat secured a new $450 million contract from the US Space Force. With a presence in defense and space business segments, the company finds itself in hot, trendy sections and should be watched by investors.
Royal Bank of Canada (NYSE:RY): The financial company has generated strong interest from investors over the past month, but this may be the right time to include in the Stock Whisper Index. A Democratic Party midterm sweep could lead to a congress that fights for better relations between the United States and Canada come January. This could lead to a better outlook on exports from Canada and overall commerce opportunities for the country, which could offer a better chance for financials and other sectors to benefit from a stronger Canadian economy.
Ross Stores Inc (NASDAQ:ROST): The discount retailer saw strong interest from readers during the week, which comes ahead of third-quarter financial earnings. The company has beaten analyst estimates for earnings per share in more than 10 straight quarters and beaten estimates for revenue in seven of the last 10 quarters. Analysts are bullish on the stock ahead of earnings with UBS upgrading from Neutral to Buy and raising the price target and Wolfe Research initiating with an Outperform rating.
Motorola Solutions Inc (NYSE:MSI): The communications company is generating strong interest after posting a double beat with recently reported quarterly results. The company also raised its full year guidance for both sales and earnings per share. Analysts raised their price targets on the stock after the earnings report. Motorola Solutions also increased their share buyback plan by $2 billion, which could help boost earnings in the future.
Glaukos Corporation (NYSE:GKOS): The medical technology company saw strong interest for the week and recently posted a big double beat for quarterly financial results. The company reported third-quarter revenue up 58% year-over-year. The company posted earnings of 47 cents per share, beating analyst estimate of a loss of 9 cents per share, a significant beat. Glaukos also raised its full-year guidance for sales and revenue. Shares were down around 5% over the last week, despite the recent strength. Shares still trade near all-time highs and are up over 100% year-to-date. Investors should note that the short pullback could be an opportunity ahead of future catalysts. The company is participating in healthcare conferences on Nov. 10, Nov. 18, Dec. 1 and Dec. 2. These investor conferences can lead to updated price targets from analysts and sometimes highlight future products and upcoming catalysts.
