Broad Chip Rally Supports Intel
Intel’s advance came alongside broad strength in growth and semiconductor stocks rather than a company-specific catalyst.
Nine of 11 sectors traded higher, while the Russell 2000 gained 1.01% and the Dow rose 0.49%, showing broader participation across growth and cyclical stocks.
Intel also outpaced the Technology sector by about 1.3 percentage points during the session.
Technical Picture Remains Mixed
Intel trades about 4.9% above its 200-day moving average, keeping the longer-term trend positive despite the recent pullback.
However, the stock remains 12.2% below its 20-day moving average and 11.4% below its 50-day moving average, reflecting weaker short-term momentum.
The Technology sector has fallen 4.09% over the past 30 days but remains up 9.05% over the past 90 days.
Earnings and Analyst Outlook
Intel is scheduled to report earnings on Oct. 29, 2026.
Analysts expect EPS of 39 cents, up from 23 cents a year earlier, and revenue of $16.45 billion, up from $13.65 billion.
Intel carries a Hold consensus rating with an average consensus price target of $102.
Susquehanna maintained Neutral and lowered its forecast to $105 on Oct. 21. TD Cowen maintained Hold and cut its forecast to $95, while JPMorgan upgraded Intel to Neutral and maintained an $85 forecast on Oct. 19.
