Evernorth CEO Shares Why He Chose XRP Over Bitcoin: 'With BTC You Can't Do Much On-Chain'

Evernorth CEO Asheesh Birla says the company’s Nasdaq debut marks a major milestone for XRP (CRYPTO: XRP).

The company plans to deploy its 473 million XRP holdings gradually into institutional lending and DeFi opportunities prioritizing security, liquidity and sustainable returns.

Speaking on the Thinking Crypto podcast, Birla outlined Evernorth’s plan to become more than a passive crypto treasury company.

Unlike Bitcoin treasury firms such as Strategy (NASDAQ:MSTR), Evernorth plans to generate risk-adjusted yields from its XRP holdings through TradFi strategies and emerging on-chain protocols.

"With Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), you can move, you can hold, but you can’t really do much on-chain," Birla said.

He pointed out Evernorth’s primary performance metric is to maximize XRP per share, although he declined to disclose future acquisition plans.

Evernorth is trading under Armada Acquisition Corp II (NASDAQ:XRPN).

XRP Lending, DeFi Could Drive Institutional Demand

Birla expects XRP Ledger lending, vaults and DeFi applications to attract institutional capital and expand XRP liquidity.

Evernorth is evaluating on-chain partners, while growing tokenization could boost demand for blockchain-based lending and settlement.

However, Birla emphasized risk management before deploying treasury assets.

“We’re going to take it slow and build methodically,” he said.

Why XRP’s Nasdaq Debut Is a Turning Point

Birla described Evernorth’s public listing as validation of XRP’s original focus on financial services, saying its institutional use cases are now materializing on Nasdaq.

He cited growing participation from BlackRock (NYSE:BLK), Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) and Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) as evidence of traditional finance embracing blockchain.

Birla expects tokenization and 24/7 markets to expand access to financial assets.

Evernorth looks to focus on deploying its XRP treasury and developing institutional-grade infrastructure on the XRP Ledger.
