Honoring Advocates for Diversity within the Healthcare Supply Chain

Owens & Minor, Inc. (NYSE:OMI) is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 7th annual Earl G. Reubel Awards, recognizing healthcare industry leaders — individuals and organizations — who advocate for diversity within the healthcare supply chain. Visit hsdsymposium.com for details and to submit your nomination, now through Friday, October 11 at 6 p.m. EST.

The Earl G. Reubel Awards, created by Owens & Minor in 2012, are given in three healthcare industry categories: Civic Leadership, Diversity Enterprise and Large Corporate Leadership. The awards are named in honor of the late Earl G. Reubel, the brilliant entrepreneur who founded Kerma Medical Products and built it into a leading supplier of healthcare products and a key partner to Owens & Minor. The 2019 awards will be presented at a gala dinner on Thursday evening, November 7 in Richmond, Virginia, which will be hosted by the company and Kerma Medical Products and sponsored in part by B. Braun and Medtronic.

The Earl G. Reubel Civic Leader of the Year Award is presented to an individual who advocates for a diverse healthcare supply chain through community outreach and education. The 2018 honoree was Timothy Martin, a strategic sourcing manager for CHRISTUS Health in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas, who initiated an annual supplier diversity vendor forum and an outreach program for minority-, women- and veteran-led businesses (MWVBEs) on working with the hospital system.

The Earl G. Reubel Diverse Enterprise of the Year Award is presented to a surgical supplier delivering differentiated value as a MWVBE. The 2018 recipient, MYCO Medical of Apex, North Carolina, is a certified diversity supplier specializing in single-use, disposable clinical preference items, focusing on categories lacking competition to provide more product choice.

The Earl G. Reubel Large Corporation of the Year Award is presented to a hospital system or group purchasing system within the healthcare industry fostering a purpose driven culture of diversity and inclusion, while also leveraging diverse suppliers. Bon Secours Mercy Health in Baltimore, the 2018 winner, has implemented strategies — ranging from the creation of job opportunities for youth to a women's resource center to purchasing from local vendors and more — designed to have a positive impact on the community it serves.

For more information or to submit your nominees for the 2019 Earl G. Reubel Awards, please visit hsdsymposium.com. Nominations close on Friday, October 11 at 6 p.m. EST.
