But when host Jackie DeAngelis pointed out that Mark Zuckerberg had been spotted wearing an eye-wateringly expensive $900,000 watch – the Greubel Forsey Hand Made 1 – in a video where he announced the end of fact-checking on Meta's platforms, O’Leary surprised everyone by showing one on his wrist too.

DeAngelis jokingly pressed O'Leary about what he thought of the watch and his own collection. O'Leary's said, "I saw it. It's a piece unique and I am embarrassed to say I’m wearing one of them right now, right here." He continued, "I understand Zuck’s disease. I have it too," while flexing his other watch during the broadcast – a one-of-a-kind Daytona. Yes, O’Leary is known to wear watches on both his wrists at the same time. He admitted that once you start collecting luxury timepieces, it's almost impossible to stop. "It is a horrible disease," he joked. "And I think I've got him beat."

Zuckerberg's Greubel Forsey Hand Made 1 isn't your everyday wrist accessory. Retailing for $895,500 before taxes, this Swiss-made masterpiece takes 6,000 hours to craft, with only two or three made each year. Often described as “wearable art,” it's an exclusive timepiece that's as much about craftsmanship as it is about status. Greubel Forsey's CEO Michel Nydegger told Fortune it’s a "pleasure" to see Zuckerberg “show true appreciation for the most traditional approach to fine watchmaking today."

While the watches are celebrated by enthusiasts, not everyone is impressed. Critics argue that flaunting a $900,000 watch during an announcement about major platform changes – like Meta's decision to end fact-checking – can come off as tone-deaf. One fashion expert called it "a bit incongruent" and said it didn't help Zuckerberg's image.
