In a peculiar turn of events, a feline companion is being held responsible for a significant technology disruption at a Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, that lasted four hours in mid-September.

What Happened: A cat, whilst sitting on the keyboard of a technician, inadvertently deleted a crucial server cluster configuration, leading to a system interruption, reported The Register. The incident occurred during a standard weekday call involving around 100 participants from the US government department, including its CIO.

Kurt DelBene, the assistant secretary for information and technology and CIO at the Department of Veterans Affairs, reportedly reacted to the incident with a light-hearted quip, stating, “This is why I have a dog.”

While the incident did not directly impact any veterans, it did cause a temporary disruption in the image transfer within VistA due to the unintentional deletion of server profiles. The system was successfully restored within a span of four hours.
