Amazon.com (NASDAQ:
AMZN) is expanding its AmazonLocal service to Manhattan, Brooklyn, Charlotte, N.C., Austin, Texas, Orlando, Fla., northern Virginia and other locations.
AmazonLocal, which started in June with the service's launch in Boise, Idaho, will now have 30 locations in 10 states. It's still small compared to market leaders Groupon and LivingSocial, but Amazon has more than 144 million active customers and it plans to leverage that valuable resource.
Mike George, AmazonLocal Vice President, said the company will "continue to be aggressive" in adding locations in different states.
