Roots Properties, a California industrial agriculture firm and investor, has taken legal action against Island View Ranch LLC and Island Breeze Farms LLC.

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges that the defendants sabotaged their cannabis grow operation and undermined a six-figure loan agreement.

The agreement, reported Green Market Report, stipulated that 90% of the profits generated by the Bay X cannabis greenhouse operation would be used to repay the loan.

Roots Properties provided a loan of $400,000 and an additional $350,000 line of credit, with the defendants drawing $262,192 from the funds.

However, Roots Properties claims intentional actions by the defendants:

  • Surrounding healthy plants with mold-infected marijuana plants
  • Disabling electrical outlets
  • Disrupting climate control systems and grow lights
  • Obstructing airflow
  • Deactivating water pumps

Alleged actions resulted in the destruction of the entire crop.

“Systemic and intentional activities by defendants had the predictable results of destroying the entire Bay X greenhouse of plants, rendering them financially worthless (...) The net profits for the first year were zero dollars based upon zero pounds of commercially salable processed cannabis,” per the lawsuit.
