Jim Carrey's 30-Year Home Has Been on the Market for Over 2 Years, and It Just Got Another Price Cut

Jim Carrey, known for his many famous films including the recent "Sonic the Hedgehog" trilogy, is struggling to off-load his long-time Los Angeles home. To make it even more attractive, the price was cut by another $1 million.

Built in 1951 and located in the affluent Brentwood neighborhood, Carrey purchased the property in 1994, the same year he starred in "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," "The Mask" and "Dumb and Dumber." After nearly 30 years, it was listed for sale for $28.9 million in February 2023.

Don't Miss:

At that time, Carrey spoke with The Wall Street Journal about selling his home, describing it as "a place of enchantment and inspiration" where he spent "30 very creative and prosperous years." The reason for putting it up for sale? "I want someone else to enjoy it like I have," Carrey says, noting that he no longer spends as much time there.

The ranch-style home went through several price changes and relistings up until December, when it was pending sale for $19.75 million. The deal fell through, according to public records, and was relisted for the same price two months later. With no buyers, another price slash brought the listing down to $18.75 million as of May 2.

Spanning just under 11,000 square feet, the contemporary home has five bedrooms and nine bathrooms. It features six fireplaces, brick hallways, beamed ceilings and French doors that lead out to the patio. The exterior stuns with a waterfall pool and spa, an infrared sauna, a steam room, green gardens, a tennis court, a gazebo and a pool house with a wet bar. For those who want to take advantage of the indoor-outdoor living, there's a treetop yoga and meditation platform.

"This tranquil oasis is unlike any other in Los Angeles and must be experienced in person to be fully appreciated," says the listing held by Graham J. Larson at Sotheby’s International Realty. "Set behind more than 280′ of hedged frontage and situated on more than two serene acres, this one of kind property offers endless enjoyment for all ages."

One of the most show-stopping parts of the house is the Art Deco-style home theater with a concessions room, which features costumes from Carrey's movies. In tall glass cases on the walls, you'd find his Riddler costume from "Batman Forever" and the Santa Claus costume from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." This is also where he keeps the many awards he's won over his impressive career. Sadly, these iconic pieces don't come with the sale of the house.
