Marjorie Taylor Greene Sparks Outrage With Call For Secession From Union On 9/11 Anniversary: 'Insane And Treasonous'

Ahead of the start of the House session this week, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) came out with a call for secession of the states from the union but it was met with harsh criticisms from fellow lawmakers.

What Happened: “If the [Joe] Biden admin refuses to stop the invasion of cartel-led human and drug trafficking into our country, states should consider seceding from the union,” Greene tweeted on Monday.

“From Texas to New York City to every town in America, we are drowning from Biden's traitorous America last border policies,” she added.

Incidentally, the Congresswoman called for a divorce of the U.S. states along the party lines in February this year. "We need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government,” she tweeted then.

MTG Receives Flak: Fellow Representative Robert Garcia (D-CA) came down hard on Greene. “There's nothing like this insane and treasonous member of Congress advocating for states to secede from the union on 9/11,” he said.

“She should be stripped of all her committees and resign immediately.”

In another scathing attack, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said, “If this lady was in Congress when September 11 happened she would have asked for a moment of silence for the hijackers. Unreal to tweet this on such a solemn day.”

Greene’s comments also drew the ire of law experts. Former Department of Labor judge Moe Davis called Greene “Traitor Trash Margie.” She “wants officials in North Carolina to violate the state constitution and she advocates to remove "United" from "United States,” he said.

“It's a disgrace that taxpayers are forced to subsidize lowlife scum working to destroy America.”

Way back in 1861, a secession attempt was unsuccessfully made by the 11 southern Confederate states in order to avoid the abolition of slavery in these states.
