Mark Cuban, Reid Hoffman, Vinod Khosla And Nearly 500 Venture Capitalists Back Kamala Harris In 2024 Election: 'Believe In Democracy As The Backbone Of Our Nation'

Investor and NBA team owner Mark Cuban is among the 400+ names of venture capitalists who are pledging support to Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

What Happened: The venture capital sector has garnered plenty of headlines in the 2024 election thanks to several notable names backing former President Donald Trump and his vice-presidential pick J.D. Vance coming from the sector.

"In this pivotal moment, we are united in our support for Vice President Kamala Harris," the website reads.

A new website recently launched called "VCs for Kamala" and shares a list of venture capitalists who are backing Harris over Trump in the election and their reasons why.

"We the undersigned are Venture Capital investors, founders and tech leaders who pledge to vote for Kamala Harris in the 2024 election."

The website says that the individuals who have signed the pledge invest in and support entrepreneurs "who are building the future."

"We are pro-business, pro-American dream, pro-entrepreneurship, and pro-technological progress."

The website includes the signatures of 480 individuals at the time of writing and asks for others to sign the pledge along with a link to donate to the efforts.

"We also believe in democracy as the backbone of our nation. We believe that strong, trustworthy institutions are a feature, not a bug, and that our industry – and every other industry – would collapse without them. That is what's at stake in this election."

Why It's Important: Many of the names stand out in the investing world and many will be familiar with the likes of Bradley Tusk, Chris Sacca, Cuban, Reid Hoffman, Steve Wozniak, and Vinod Khosla.

Cuban was recently vocal in the Democratic Party needing a change in their presidential candidate. He called on Joe Biden to step down and used the basketball analogy of the trade deadline not being passed yet. Cuban was also reportedly contacted by the Harris campaign for help with working on cryptocurrency policy.

Hoffman said in an interview that he believed Biden is more pro-business than Trump, a comment made as many of his peers are backing the former president over his business ideals.

Khosla spoke out against Trump in a recent exchange on social media platform X with billionaire Elon Musk.

"Hard for me to support someone with no values, lies, cheats, rapes, demeans women, hates immigrants like me," Khosla said to Musk in a response to a call to support Trump and Vance.

Khosla acknowledged that Trump could be good for him with a plan to cut taxes and reduce regulation, "but that is no reason to accept depravity in his personal values."

Before and after adding Vance to the campaign ticket, Trump has attracted many of the most well-known investors and venture capitalists as donors and supporters, including Musk, Peter Thiel, David Sacks, Bill Ackman, Marc Andreessen, and Joe Lonsdale.

With the election expected to be close and both Trump and Harris raising hundreds of millions of dollars, the public and financial support of venture capitalists could prove crucial in the 2024 election.
