Occidental Petroleum Corp is a Delaware corporation. It conducts its operations through various oil and gas, chemical, midstream, marketing and other subsidiaries and affiliates. Its businesses consist of three segments. The oil and gas segment explores for, develops and produces oil and condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs) and natural gas. The chemical segment (OxyChem) mainly manufactures and markets basic chemicals and vinyls. The midstream, marketing and other segment gathers, processes, transports, stores, purchases and markets oil, condensate, NGLs, natural gas, carbon dioxide (CO2) and power. It also trades around its assets, including pipelines and storage capacity, and trades oil, NGLs, gas and other commodities. Occidental's domestic oil and gas operations are located in California, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas. International operations are located in Bahrain, Bolivia, Colombia, Iraq, Libya, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Yemen. OxyChem owns and operates manufacturing plants at 22 domestic sites in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas and at two international sites in Canada and Chile and has interests in a Brazilian joint venture. OxyChem produces products such as: Chlorine, Caustic Soda, Chlorinated organics, Potassium chemicals, Ethylene dichloride, VCM, PVC, Chlorinated isocyanurates, Resorcinol, Sodium silicates and Calcium chloride. The midstream and marketing operations are conducted in California, Colorado, Permian Basin, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Western and Southern United States and Canada. As a producer of oil and natural gas, Occidental competes with numerous other domestic and foreign private and government producers. The Company's operations are subject to stringent federal, state, local and foreign laws and regulations relating to improving or maintaining environmental quality.
