Gold Tumbles Over 3%; MongoDB Shares Move Lower

U.S. stocks traded lower toward the end of trading, with the Nasdaq Composite falling more than 150 points on Monday.

The Dow traded down 0.50% to 51,571.80 while the NASDAQ dipped 0.63% to 26,897.56. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.57% to 7,699.44.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Energy shares rose by 0.3% on Monday.

In trading on Monday, communication services stocks fell by 1.5%.

The Dallas Fed’s general business activity index for Texas manufacturing fell to 9.8 in September from 11.6 in the previous month.

  • Knorex Ltd (NYSE:KNRX) shares shot up 301% to $1.22. KNOREX announced that it is pursuing a strategic carve-out of AscendX Media Technologies Pte. Ltd, its wholly owned publisher monetization subsidiary.
  • Shares of Kodiak Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:KOD) got a boost, surging 185% to $92.20 after the company announced that the primary endpoints were met for Zenkuda and tabirafusp-ted in the Phase 3 DAYBREAK study in patients with wet age-related macular degeneration.
  • AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc (NYSE:AMC) shares were also up, gaining 14% to $3.34 as investors continue to weigh a debt maturity extension and new alternative revenue streams.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Mongodb Inc (NASDAQ:MDB) shares dropped 17% to $339.65. The company announced CEO Chirantan Desai has stepped down effective immediately to pursue a senior role at Meta Platforms.
  • Shares of Nu Holdings Ltd. (NYSE:NU) were down 9% to $12.37 after reports suggesting it is in discussions to acquire UK digital bank Monzo for as much as $13 billion in cash and stock.
  • Masonglory Ltd (NASDAQ:MSGY) was down, falling 62% to $3.10. Masonglory announced a $1 million private placement of 667K Class A shares at $1.50 per share with Series A and Series B warrants.

In commodity news, oil traded down 0.1% to $92.39 while gold traded down 3.5% at $4,171.10.

Silver traded down 4.8% to $61.690 on Monday, while copper fell 1.8% to $6.6460.

Euro zone

European shares were mixed today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 rose 0.01%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index fell 0.51%, London’s FTSE 100 fell 0.1%, Germany’s DAX declined 0.13%, while France’s CAC 40 rose 0.01%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed lower on Monday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 dipping 0.73%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index gaining 0.54%, China’s SSE Composite Index tumbling 1.67% and India’s BSE Sensex falling 1.52%.
