Nuance Communications (NASDAQ: NUAN) rose nearly one percent Thursday on a rumor it may be involved with Amazon's new Fire smartphone.

Wedbush analyst Shyam Patil, citing conversations with Amazon's customer support personnel, said Nuance may be providing its voice-assistant technology for use in the new phone.

Nuance traded recently at $19.52 per share, up 0.93 percent.
