CSX Q3 Details
CSX reported quarterly earnings of 57 per share, which beat the consensus estimate of 53 cents by 7.55%, per Benzinga Pro data.
Quarterly revenue came in at $4.02 billion, which beat the analyst estimate of $3.96 billion and was up from $3.59 billion in the same period last year. The company attributed the gains to increased fuel surcharge revenue together with higher volume and pricing.
Total volume of 1.69 million units for the quarter was 5% higher than third quarter 2025.
“CSX delivered strong earnings growth in the third quarter as disciplined execution helped us move more freight, for more customers, while maintaining our high standards for safety and service,” said CEO Steve Angel.
CSX Stock Price and Technicals
According to data from Benzinga Pro, CSX stock was up 4.03% to $50.35 in Wednesday’s extended trading.
CSX stock has a constructive longer-term setup: it is trading above all major moving averages, with the price 11.9% above the 200-day SMA and the 50-day SMA still above the 200-day SMA. The 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day SMA, so traders should view the latest strength as bullish but still watch for confirmation that the shorter-term trend is fully turning higher.
RSI is 68.53, which is neutral but close to overbought territory. Momentum is strong, though a move above 70 could leave the stock vulnerable to a pause or pullback after its recent advance.
MACD is above its signal line, indicating bullish momentum. This supports the broader uptrend and favors holding or buying on orderly pullbacks rather than chasing an extended move.
