Elon Musk may have spent $44 billion to acquire Twitter, the social media platform now called X and part of Space Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX), but that’s not the only place the billionaire goes daily for news.
Elon Musk on News
When it comes to checking news, it might be surprising to learn that Musk has a favorite place to look outside of social media.
Musk told author Walter Isaacson that he looks at Google News, a unit of Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)(NASDAQ:GOOGL), saying it has a good summation of headlines.
Of course, Musk also looks at the X platform and said that if news is important enough, it’ll show up there.
Outside of the internet and social media, Musk also talks to friends and does research to learn about news on the latest and trending topics.
Is Social Media Too Dark?
Musk admitted that social media platforms like X can be dark at times.
"I do think at times the X feed can be a little dark," Musk said during his appearance on "The Builders" with Isaacson.
The billionaire owner of X told Isaacson that there is too much political rage bait on the social media platform and that users need to go away from their computers every once in a while and go outside and "touch grass."
Musk admits that social media can also be misleading by providing doom and gloom scenarios that may not fit into close proximity of a person’s world. An example of taking a walk in a nice neighborhood despite the internet saying it isn’t safe to walk outside anymore was given by Musk.
When it comes to looking at news or real-world events, Musk said you can be in a real-world positivity bubble or a social media negative bubble, with both of these possible.
