The technology and networking company announced in August that it would reduce its headcount by 7%, or around 5,600 employees, following <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2024/09/12/tech-layoffs-2024-list/">an earlier layoff in February</a>, in which the company let go of about 4,000 employees.&nbsp;
As <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2024/08/20/cisco-employees-face-a-month-of-silence-ahead-of-second-layoff-in-2024/">TechCrunch previously reported</a>, Cisco employees said that the company refused to say who was affected by the layoffs until September 16. Cisco did not give a reason for the month-long delay in notifying affected staff. One employee told TechCrunch at the time that Cisco's workplace had become the "most toxic environment" they had worked in.
TechCrunch has learned that the layoffs also affect Talos Security, the company's threat intelligence and security research unit.&nbsp;
Cisco said <a href="https://www.sec.gov/ix?doc=/Archives/edgar/data/858877/000119312524200636/d878533d8k.htm">in its August statement</a> that its second layoff of the year would allow the company to "invest in key growth opportunities and drive more efficiencies." On the same day, Cisco <a href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/25147260-cisco-q4-fy24-earnings-remarks#document/p6/a2587014">published its most recent full-year earnings report</a>, in which the company said 2024 was its "second strongest year on record," citing close to $54 billion in annual revenue.
Cisco chief executive Chuck Robbins made close to $32 million in total executive compensation during 2023, according to the company's filings.

The American Psychological Association (APA) reported that the average stress level among 18- to 34-year-olds is six out of 10, compared to those aged 65 and older, who reported stress levels of 3.4 out of 10. Younger generations, with high stress levels, are more prone to burnout, which fuels the desire to take a microretirement and recharge.&nbsp;
WSJ spoke to a 31-year-old marketing professional, Dana Saperstein, who exemplifies this trend. Saperstein left her job to hike the Pacific Crest Trail for six months. &#8220;If I keep working myself to the bone until 60 years old, I might physically never be able to hike the 2,650-mile Mexico-to-Canada trail,&#8221; she told The Journal.&nbsp;

Sony Group Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SONY#NYSE">SONY</a>) is set to bid farewell to 10 titles from its PlayStation Plus subscription service this month, with LittleBigPlanet 3 <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/gaming">leading the pack. </a>
The beloved puzzle platformer, developed by Sumo Digital and released on PS3 and PS4 in 2014, will no longer be available for subscribers, as <a href="https://www.eurogamer.net/another-playstation-exclusive-leaving-ps-plus-soon">spotted</a> by Eurogamer.
As a PlayStation Studios title, LittleBigPlanet 3 is wholly owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment, making its departure a significant move.

Fitzroy Minerals Inc. The new soil geochemistry results highlight two continuous mineralized trends of 2.0 km and 1.9 km in length, alongside five additional anomalies ranging from 400 m to 1,000 m. These anomalies total 6.9 km and show significant expansion potential, particularly in a 450 m-wide zone at the southern end of one grid where no previous surface mineralization was indicated. This expansion follows the company&#39;s earlier soil survey results reported on May 14, 2024.
Merlin Marr-Johnson, President and CEO of Fitzroy Minerals, spoke about these findings in the company news release, stating that they &quot;highlight the mineral potential of Polimet&quot; underscoring the project&#39;s status as a high-priority drilling target.
Fitzroy&#39;s soil sampling campaign included 800 samples, with 24% showing copper concentrations over 150 ppm, and 11% exceeding 200 ppm. The highest copper (Cu) concentration was measured at 993 ppm (0.1% Cu). The survey also correlated well with field and aerial observations, showing promising trends in both soil color and ASTER imagery data.

Stockhead reported on September 13 that gold reached an all-time high of US$2,568/oz, driven by U.S. economic data and the anticipation of a potential interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve. ANZ commented that weak labor market data in the U.S., along with an uptick in initial jobless claims, raised the likelihood of an interest rate cut, further buoying the precious metals market. The rally in gold prices was also supported by investors buying back once-bearish bets, as money managers&#39; net short positions in Comex gold futures reached their highest level in four weeks by September 3.
This bullish trend in the gold sector is particularly relevant for companies such as Fitzroy Minerals, which continues to explore and develop projects like the Polimet Gold-Copper-Silver Project in Chile. Fitzroy Minerals&#39; CEO, Merlin Marr-Johnson, highlighted the recent soil geochemistry survey, noting that the Polimet project continues to deliver promising results. This growing deficit, combined with tightening market conditions, suggests a bullish future for copper prices, further supporting companies like Fitzroy Minerals, which are active in copper exploration.

The latest soil geochemistry results, as specified by the company, are expected to guide Fitzroy Minerals&#39; future exploration efforts at the Polimet project.
