Venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya took a dig at Claude’s writing shortcomings while sharing TS Lombard economist Dario Perkins’ warning about a potential financial bubble and its implications for markets.
Palihapitiya Criticizes Claude’s AI Writing
On Saturday, Palihapitiya shared Perkins’ post on X, featuring a satirical disclaimer about using Claude to write "The Perkini Report: The 2028 Reality Crisis."
The disclaimer said Claude produced a "poor, sloppy job," requiring more editing than expected.
It also joked that Claude objected to references to specific companies, preferring the phrase "standalone model developer."
The post sarcastically suggested that any remaining errors were the AI’s responsibility, adding, "no human should ever be held accountable for its actions."
It concluded, "AI moves in mysterious ways," poking fun at the tendency to blame AI for mistakes.
Dario Perkins Warns of a Potential Financial Bubble
Meanwhile, Perkins questioned whether one of the most obvious financial bubbles in history could turn out to be a bubble, asking, "what if that is just really… bearish?"
He added, "There were signs, there are always signs," hinting at potential warning signals for financial markets.
Anthropic Tightened Claude AI Rules
Earlier this month, Anthropic tightened Claude’s restrictions on influence campaigns, weapons and surveillance following cyberattacks involving its models.
A hacker used Claude to target 40 organizations linked to France’s far right, breaching 14 and stealing sensitive data. The revised policy also strengthened election safeguards and human oversight for high-risk uses.
Last month, Anthropic launched Claude Sonnet 5.5, claiming it was more than 30% faster and could cost up to 30% less per task than its predecessor.
The model added cybersecurity safeguards and coding improvements, while Anthropic planned to launch Haiku 5.5 to complete its three-model lineup.
Investors Divided Over AI Bubble Risks
Billionaire investor Ray Dalio called AI a "classic bubble," warning that rising debt and interest rates could bring it closer to bursting.
Citadel LLC CEO Ken Griffin said investors were "almost certainly" in an AI bubble, citing uncertainty over companies’ spending and returns.
However, Blackstone (NYSE:BX) CEO Stephen Schwarzman and President Jon Gray dismissed bubble concerns, pointing to surging AI demand, limited computing supply and strong revenue at Anthropic and OpenAI.
Blackstone had also built a $200 billion data center portfolio, underscoring its significant investment in AI infrastructure.
