Estrella Immunopharma Inc. (NASDAQ:ESLA) shares climbed 17.91% to $0.65 after the bell on Wednesday.
In regular trading, the stock of the California-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company gained 37.50% to close at $0.55, according to Benzinga Pro data.
EB103 Dual-Dose Safety Update
The move followed Estrella’s update last week on its STARLIGHT-1 trial, which tests EB103, a CD19-redirected T-cell therapy, in patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
The first patient in the dose-expansion phase received two infusions of EB103 three weeks apart, each at 5 × 10⁶ EB103 T cells/kg. The patient tolerated the treatment well during the first month, with no treatment-related serious adverse events reported, the company said
CEO Cheng Liu said, "While this is an early result from a single patient, it supports our rationale for evaluating multiple dosing."
Phase I Data
During the dose escalation phase, EB103 achieved a 100% complete response rate at Month 1 among all evaluable patients who received high doses. According to the company, none of the nine treated patients experienced treatment-related serious adverse events.
Patients without central nervous system involvement who achieved a complete response maintained it for nine months.
Pivotal Trial Plans
EB103 uses ARTEMIS technology licensed from Eureka Therapeutics, Inc., Estrella’s parent company. The company says the design differs from traditional CAR-T therapies because it is regulated in a way that more closely resembles a natural T-cell receptor.
Estrella said data from the expansion cohort will help shape its pivotal trial strategy.
