ADA Shouldn't Be Up as Much as Bitcoin and PURR, Analyst Says: 'Why Is Cardano Up?'

Cryptocurrency analyst Austin Campbell argued Wednesday that Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) and Hyperliquid earned their rallies while Cardano (CRYPTO: ADA) simply caught a sympathy bid.

Why Campbell Is Fading Most Altcoin Moves

Campbell told the Wolf of All Streets podcast that the broad altcoin rally is a correlation move, not a fundamental one.

He argued that nothing has changed for most altcoins and that the moves are purely sympathy-driven, with assets on low liquidity running harder than anything with real backing.

His sharpest criticism was reserved for Cardano. “I’m looking at the screens and I’m like, why is Cardano up as much as Bitcoin right now?” Campbell asked.

He added that assets with no utility and no fundamental way to assign value are easy fades in this environment.

Why Bitcoin’s Rally Had Real Money Behind It

Glassnode analyst Frederik Theissen wrote in the firm’s weekly on-chain report that Aug. 19 produced the largest single-day short liquidation event in Glassnode’s feed since 2019, with 85% of everything liquidated coming from the short side.

The rally consumed 86% of the modelled liquidation clusters in its path, leaving a dense supply shelf at $82,000 to $86,000 overhead as the next major test.

What Hyperliquid’s Volume Data Actually Shows

Santiment posted on X that Hyperliquid’s as measured by Hyperliquid Strategies Inc. (NASDAQ:PURR) perpetual volume hit $19.4 billion on Aug. 21, roughly 2.2 times its trailing weekday baseline.

For context, June 5 printed $20.2 billion and October 10, 2025 saw $32.7 billion, the real extreme.

Santiment flagged that volume spikes signal a stretched market but do not indicate direction. The June spike did not mark the low, with Bitcoin falling a further 4% more than three weeks later.
