Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd was formed by articles of amalgamation under the laws of the Province of Ontario on June 1, 1972, as a result of the amalgamation of Agnico Mines Limited (Agnico Mines) and Eagle Gold Mines Limited (Eagle). It is a gold mining company with mining operations in Canada, Mexico and Finland. It is an established Canadian-based international gold producer with mining operations in northwestern Quebec, northern Mexico, northern Finland and Nunavut and exploration activities in Canada, Europe, Latin America and the United States. It explores for gold, as well as silver, copper, zinc, and lead. The Company's has three business units consisting of the Northern business unit, the Southern business unit, and the Exploration business unit. The Northern Business include LaRonde mine, Lapa mine, Goldex mine, Meadowbank mine including the Amaruq deposit, Canadian Malartic joint operation, Meliadine project and Kittila mine. The Southern Business includes Pinos Altos mine, Creston Mascota deposit at Pinos Altos and La India mine. The Exploration includes United States Exploration office, Europe Exploration office, Canada Exploration offices and Latin America Exploration office.
