The highly anticipated media rights for National Basketball Association (NBA) live games <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/04/38463666/game-on-amazon-youtube-and-nbcuniversal-reportedly-battle-for-nba-rights">are up for grabs</a>.
What Happened: For years, Warner Bros. Discovery (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WBD#NASDAQ">WBD</a>) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DIS#NYSE">DIS</a>) have had the media rights <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/nba">for NBA content</a> for their TNT and ESPN units respectively.
After failing to come to a new deal under an exclusive negotiation window, Warner Bros. Discovery could now be on the outside looking in with rival Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CMCSA#NASDAQ">CMCSA</a>) ready to swoop in with a huge offer.
NBCUniversal, which is owned by Comcast, is <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/media/nbc-prepares-roughly-2-5-billion-a-year-offer-to-steal-nba-rights-away-from-tnt-e6e14eeb?mod=latest_headlines">reportedly</a> nearing a deal to pay $2.5 billion annually for the rights to a package of NBA games each year. 
TNT currently pays around $1.2 billion annually under the current NBA deal that expires at the end of the 2024-2025 season. 
TNT can try and match rival offers as the current league partner.
The bid from NBCUniversal includes regular season and playoff games that would air on NBC and the Peacock streaming platform. The media company has also discussed having two prime-time games a week on its NBC channel. Warner Bros. Discovery does not own a broadcast network, which could give NBC a leg up.
Disney is expected to pay $2.6 billion annually for a renewal of its current deal with the league, which marks a sharp increase from the $1.5 billion it currently pays annually.
Under the new NBA deal, TV partners would air fewer games than in the past. This is due to the league working out a new package for a streaming partner.
Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) is believed to be in the final stages of negotiating a streaming rights deal with the league for its Prime Video platform.

Warner is also working on a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/02/36969578/disney-fox-warner-bros-combine-forces-for-new-sports-streaming-venture">sports streaming joint venture</a> with Disney and Fox Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FOX#NASDAQ">FOX</a>)(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FOXA#NASDAQ">FOXA</a>). Without the NBA rights, Warner may have less to contribute to the venture and risk being squeezed out or owning a smaller stake in the venture.
Amazon's interest in NBA rights has been a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/10/35146521/amazon-is-winning-its-bet-on-nfl-rights-a-look-at-the-numbers-taylor-swift-upside">hot topic since October</a>. The e-commerce company landed NFL rights and has the "Thursday Night Football" broadcast that has been strong for ratings and helped boost Amazon Prime membership.
The streaming platform pitched having an exclusive night of NBA games on Amazon Prime similar to "Thursday Night Football" previously.
Comcast has been a key player in the sports rights markets and currently has rights to content that includes the Olympic Games, PGA Tour, Nascar, English Premier League, National Football League, Big Ten Football, Notre Dame Football, Triple Crown Horse Racing and more.
NBC previously had rights to NBA rights from 1954 to 1962 and from 1990 to 2002.

<a href="https://variety.com/t/nbcuniversal/">NBCUniversal</a> is looking to wring more money out of <a href="https://variety.com/t/peacock/">Peacock</a> subscribers, with the streamer set to raise prices this summer — <a href="https://variety.com/2023/digital/news/peacock-price-increase-1235672565/">one year after its last fee hike</a>.
Beginning in mid-July, the price for Peacock Premium (with ads) will increase by $2 to $7.99 per month and Peacock Premium Plus (mostly ad-free) is also going up by $2 to $13.99 per month. Peacock Premium's annual price will increase from $59.99 to $79.99, while Premium Plus is going from $119.99 to $139.99 per year.
The new prices will be effective starting July 18 for new Peacock customers and for existing subscribers with their next billing date on or after Aug. 17.

The Peacock Premium Plus tier provides ad-free content, the ability to download episodes and live local NBC channels. Due to streaming rights, per NBCU, a "small amount of programming" still contains ads on some Peacock channels, events, and a few shows and movies.

As of the <a href="https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/comcast-q1-profit-cord-cutting-peacock-ad-spend-1235981759/">end of the first quarter of 2024</a>, the U.S.-only Peacock service had 34 million subscribers, fewer than rival streamers like Netflix and Disney+. That was up 55% year-over-year and a net gain of 3 million Peacock subs in Q1; average revenue per subscriber in the quarter was $10/month. "Looking ahead, our content offering provides such great value proposition that we should have some real pricing power over time," Comcast president Michael Cavanagh said on the earnings call last week. Cavanagh said Peacock's <a href="https://variety.com/2024/digital/news/peacock-signups-nfl-wild-card-game-chiefs-dolphins-1235885957/">streaming-only NFL Wild Card game between the Chiefs and Dolphins</a> on Jan. 13 resulted in the service adding and then retaining "even more new Peacock subscribers than we expected."
The Peacock price increases demonstrate that NBCU — after introducing low-price and even a free, ad-supported tier when the product launched in 2020 to attract consumers — has refocused on making the direct-to-streaming business profitable. The company last year <a href="https://variety.com/2023/digital/news/peacock-ends-free-tier-nbcuniversal-1235508588/">shut down Peacock's free tier for new users</a> and <a href="https://variety.com/2023/digital/news/comcast-xfinity-subs-losing-peacock-free-access-1235520530/">stopped bundling Peacock Premium for free for Comcast's Xfinity customers</a>.
NBCU touts Peacock's annual lineup of nearly 100,000 programming hours. That includes exclusive streaming windows on Universal movies, next-day NBC and Bravo episodes, Peacock originals, and more than 8,000 hours of live sports. In the first quarter of 2024, Peacock had its most-streamed movie to date — Oscar-winner "Oppenheimer" — as well as its most-streamed original comedy, "Ted," and most-streamed original unscripted series, "The Traitors."

Recent Peacock originals include series like "Apples Never Fall," "Poker Face," "Bel-Air," "Based on a True Story," "The Best Man: The Final Chapters" and "Twisted Metal." Upcoming titles to premiere this year include "Those About to Die," "Fight Night," "Hysteria" and "Day of the Jackal,"; new seasons of return shows like "Bel-Air" and "Love Island USA" as well as titles from Universal Filmed Entertainment including "The Fall Guy," Illumination's "Despicable Me 4" and "Twisters," following their theatrical runs.
This summer for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, NBCU has boasted that it will deliver more streaming content than ever, with 5,000 hours of coverage. That will include features like Peacock Live Actions and Peacock Discovery Multiview, along with programming like the "Gold Zone" whip-around show and "Watch With Alex Cooper" interactive watch parties. 
In addition, for the 2024 NFL season, Peacock will exclusively stream the Friday night opening game on Sept. 6 between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers live from São Paulo, Brazil. Other exclusive sports content on the streamer includes Premier League soccer, WWE events, Big Ten football and basketball, golf, rugby, cycling, motorsports events and more.

As we look ahead to the unfolding week, it remains to be seen whether the tech earnings deluge can keep the rally&#8217;s momentum going. 
The Week That Was: High-profile Magnificent Seven earnings panned out mostly positively for the market, with Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>) the outlier. The social media giant&#8217;s stock fell sharply as traders fretted over the soft second-quarter revenue guidance and the company&#8217;s massive AI investment plans. 
Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) managed to appease the Street despite the double miss as it held out the promise of an expeditious launch of a more affordable EV. 
With the earnings season now halfway through, the percentage of S&amp;P 500 companies reporting positive earnings surprises and the magnitude of earnings surprises were above their 10-year averages, <a href="https://insight.factset.com/sp-500-earnings-season-update-april-26-2024?utm_source=Direct&amp;utm_medium=Email&amp;utm_campaign=FO-04-26-2024&amp;utm_content=httpsinsightfactsetcomsp500earningsseasonupdateapril262024">said </a>FactSet in a report.
The blended first-quarter earnings growth of S&amp;P 500 companies is estimated at 3.5%, up from the 0.6% growth estimated in the week ended April 19, the financial data analytics firm said. If the trend holds, the S&amp;P 500 companies are on track to report earnings growth for the third straight quarter.
Of the 11 S&amp;P sector classes, eight sectors reported year-over-year earnings growth, led by communication services, utilities, IT, and consumer discretionary sectors. On the other hand, healthcare, energy, and materials have reported year-over-year earnings declines.

Look Ahead: The unfolding week will see 175 S&amp;P 500 companies and 6 Dow 30 components releasing their quarterly scorecards. The earnings roster includes two Magnificent Seven companies, namely Apple, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) and Amazon, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>), e-commerce retailers, payment processors, restaurants, and energy and REIT companies.
Earnings from Apple and Amazon could be market-moving, given the weighting of these stocks in the S&amp;P 500 Index. Also, Apple is considered a bellwether, given its exposure to consumers. Morgan Stanley&#8217;s Erik Woodring expects Apple to report a slightly beat but guide June quarter revenue down. 
Investors are likely to keep a close eye on performance in China, Apple&#8217;s updated capital return framework, and capital expenditures, the analyst said.
That said, the analyst is positive on the stock ahead of its annual Worldwide Developers&#8217; Conference due on June 10th. &#8220;With Apple&#8217;s biggest WWDC event on June 10th, we&#8217;d buy post-earnings weakness,&#8221; he said.
Amazon will likely continue to report double-digit sales and profit growth in the first quarter, according to Telsey Advisory Group analyst Joseph Feldman. The analyst premised his optimism on the strength of online spending, gains from expanded merchandise and faster fulfillment, and stabilization (and growth) of AWS. 
&#8220;Importantly, we expect [a] greater focus on profits supported by the growth of higher margin categories and services, such as advertising, media, and AWS (partly helped by AI-related upgrades), the redesigned distribution network&#8230;.. and cost savings,&#8221; he said.

Warner Bros. Discovery has the right to match deals, but NBC could try to structure an agreement in a way that makes it difficult.
While there is still work to be completed for the final arrangements, the current packages are going to be pruned slightly to create the third partner. In one arrangement, ESPN will cut down from around 100 games to around 80, according to executives briefed on the talks.
A natural landing spot for Amazon's regular-season games could be Thursday night, where it already has the <a href="https://theathletic.com/nfl/">NFL</a> from September to early January. The NBA, in recent years, has moved its games off Thursday during the time period to not go head-to-head with the NFL. It is expected to then have significant playoff inventory. Amazon has shown interest in global rights, which has been a key part of the NBA's negotiating strategy as it lined all of its domestic and international deals to end following the 2024-2025 season

Comcast shares are trading lower following Q1 earnings.

Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CMCSA#NASDAQ">CMCSA</a>) shares are trading lower on the heels of the company&#8217;s first-quarter financial results. Here&#8217;s a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/CMCSA">rundown of the report</a>.
What To Know: Comcast said first-quarter revenue increased 1.2% year-over-year to $30.058 billion, which beat the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus estimate</a>&nbsp;of $29.811 billion, according to&nbsp;<a href="https://benzinga.grsm.io/gxjhpowx7zks" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Benzinga Pro</a>. The company reported quarterly earnings of $1.04 per share, which beat analyst estimates of 99 cents per share.
Comcast said it generated $4.5 billion in free cash flow during the quarter. 
Domestic broadband average rate per customer increased&nbsp;4.2% and domestic wireless customer lines Increased&nbsp;21%, including net additions of 289,000. Peacock paid subscribers increased 55% year-over-year to 34 million, including net additions of 3 million in the first quarter.
&#8220;We delivered double-digit growth in Adjusted EPS and free cash flow while returning&nbsp;$3.6 billion&nbsp;to shareholders, investing aggressively in our businesses, and maintaining our strong balance sheet,&#8221; &nbsp;said Brian Roberts, chairman and CEO of Comcast.
&#8220;We grew broadband ARPU over&nbsp;4%, delivered&nbsp;7%&nbsp;revenue growth in our connectivity businesses, and expanded our Adjusted EBITDA margin across Connectivity &amp; Platforms.&#8221;

Comcast (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CMCSA#NASDAQ">CMCSA</a>) reported quarterly earnings of $1.04 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $0.99 by 5.05 percent. The company reported quarterly sales of $30.058 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $29.811 billion by 0.83 percent. This is a 1.24 percent increase over sales of $29.691 billion the same period last year.

(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IBM#NYSE">IBM</a>) also fell on earnings. The tech space could come under pressure as traders digest these disappointments.
More tech earnings are on tap on Thursday, led by AI stalwart Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) and Alphabet, Inc. Cues From Past Session:
Early optimism triggered by positive reactions to earnings from Tesla, Inc.&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) and Texas Instruments, Inc.&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TXN#NASDAQ">TXN</a>) tempered over the course of Wednesday&#8217;s session. Mixed earnings reports and economic worries kept sentiment subdued for much of the session, and this led to a mixed close for the day.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite and the S&amp;P 500 Index ended the session marginally higher, pulling notably off the day&#8217;s high reached in early trading. The former moved in a roughly 205-point range and the latter gyrated between 5,047.02 and 5,089.48, a roughly 43-point intra-day move. Nevertheless, the indices have been higher for a third straight session now.
Weighed down by a 2.87% pullback in Boeing Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BA#NYSE">BA</a>) shares following its earnings release, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended modestly lower.

Insights From Analysts:
The growth conundrum of whether the economy is going to see a hard or soft landing, has kept investors skewed toward quality stocks, <a href="https://www.morganstanley.com/ideas/thoughts-on-the-market-wilson?subscribed=true&amp;dis=em_2024424_wm_5ideasarticle&amp;et_mid=585156&amp;et_mkid=&amp;sfmc_id=201810710">said </a>Morgan Stanley&#8217;s Chief Equity Strategist Mike Wilson in a podcast. &#8220;The largest risk for stocks more broadly is higher 10-year Treasury yields as investors begin to demand a larger term premium due to higher inflation and the growing supply of bonds to pay for the endless deficits,&#8221; he said.
&#8220;Our primary concern for equities at this point is that aggressive fiscal spending has led to better economic growth but it keeps upward pressure on inflation and prevents the Fed from cutting interest rates that many economic participants desperately need at this point.&#8221;
The analyst recommended investors look into under-appreciated sectors. &#8220;This is all in-line with our 2024 outlook that suggests the major equity indices are overvalued while the best opportunities are likely beneath the surface in underappreciated sectors like energy that are positively levered to stickier inflation and higher interest rates.&#8221;
Fund Strat&#8217;s Tom Lee, however, is optimistic. In his weekly commentary, the analyst noted that the S&amp;P 500 and equities rebounded over the past two days, rising more than 2%. &#8220;The S&amp;P 500 closed solidly above the critical 5,019.20 to 5,070.55. In our view, this is confirmation that the worst of this two-week decline is behind us,&#8221; he said.
Upcoming Economic Data:
The Bureau of Economic Analysis is due to release its<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs/broad-u-s-equity-etfs/24/04/38405106/us-economy-expected-to-grow-2-5-in-q1-not-a-hard-landing-and-hardly-a-soft-one"> first-quarter GDP data (advance estimate) </a>at 8:30 a.m. EDT. Economists, on average, expect the economy to have expanded 2.2%, slower than the 3.4% pace in the fourth quarter. Traders may also keep an eye on the GDP price deflator and the price consumption expenditure index to gauge inflation trends.
The Labor Department will release the customary jobless claims data at 8:30 a.m. EDT. The number of individuals claiming unemployment benefits is expected at 215,000 for the week ended April 20, up slightly from 212,000 in the previous week.
The National Association of Realtors is scheduled to release its pending home sales index for March at 10 a.m. EDT, with consensus calling for an unchanged reading following the 1.6% increase in February.
The Treasury will auction four- and eight-week bills at 11:30 a.m. EDT and seven-year notes at 1 p.m. EDT.

Most major Asian markets, with the exception of the Chinese, Hong Kong and Indian markets, pulled back, as traders positioned themselves for Friday&#8217;s U.S. inflation data. The Australian and New Zealand markets remained closed for a public holiday.
The European markets fell in early trading, adding to the losses they made on Wednesday. The Euro STOXX 50 Index was down 0.44% at the last check.

With the market encountering significant challenges, now may be the time to consider stocks on sale. While it&rsquo;s always a sweaty-palm affair to buy into the red ink, doing so may give the speculator significant upside.



As the adage goes, be fearful when others are greedy and be greedy when others are fearful. The best part about getting hot stocks on discount is that they should still remain fundamentally sound. Basically, the only difference is the underlying market cycle.



Granted, no guarantees exist &ndash; sometimes securities sell off for a good reason. Still, these intriguing ideas might be worth a second look. With that, here are some stocks on sale to consider.



<h2>Nike (NKE)</h2>

During the meeting, he announced that the athletic footwear and apparel giant <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/retail/nike-reverse-innovation-stalls-rivals-gain-c3ed8e63">wasn&rsquo;t performing to its lofty standards</a>. Further, he held himself accountable. And by that, the message was that more than 1,600 employees would need to lose their jobs.



Nobody said the corporate world was easy or fair. Still, Nike now states that it&rsquo;s refocusing to once again deliver innovative footwear. To be blunt, corporate executives usually say the same thing when faced with challenges. Nevertheless, Nike has a massive advantage that other companies lack: global brand presence and power.



If Nike makes the tweaks, the moves should resonate with its customers. I wouldn&rsquo;t go so far as to say that NKE is objectively undervalued. It does <a href="https://www.gurufocus.com/stock/NKE/summary?search=nke">trade at 2.81X trailing-year sales</a>, which is above the sector median 0.85X. Still, if management hits the right notes, the projected high-side revenue for fiscal 2025 &ndash; which stands at $54.5 billion &ndash; could arrive sooner than expected.



<h2>Comcast (CMCSA)</h2>

Naturally, the entertainment landscape is a difficult one for all players. For example, cineplex operator AMC Entertainment (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/amc-stock-quote/">AMC</a>) has struggled for traction as it faces a <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/04/amc-stock-lenders-push-for-amc-debt-extension/">declining box office</a>.



Still, Comcast also has the opportunity to focus on action-adventure blockbusters for major releases. Such films are usually best experienced on the big screen. Further, the company could also take advantage of the post-pandemic travel cycle with its theme parks. Sure, revenge travel may no longer be the phenomenon that it once was. However, <a href="https://www.hoteldive.com/news/leisure-travel-demand-deloitte/708785/#:~:text=A%20January%20Deloitte%20report%20found,over%20hotel%20class%20in%202024.">travel prioritization</a> remains a strong pull among consumers.



One advantage that Comcast offers with its red-stained price tag is a more attractive valuation. Currently, shares <a href="https://www.gurufocus.com/stock/CMCSA/summary?search=cmcsa">trade at 9.07X forward earnings</a>, below the sector median 13.59X. In fiscal 2024, analysts project Comcast&rsquo;s earnings per share to reach $4.22, above last year&rsquo;s print of $3.98. So, it makes an intriguing case for stocks on sale.



<h2>GlobalFoundries (GFS)</h2>

With the memory of the Covid-19-related supply pressures still fresh, GlobalFoundries benefits from a strong narrative. However, the current economic headwinds pose obstacles for GFS stock. As such, the market isn&rsquo;t exactly enthused with the idea. However, this dynamic also means that shares are trading at a price/earnings-to-growth (<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/peg-stock-quote/">PEG</a>) ratio of 0.67X. That&rsquo;s well lower than the sector median 1.6X.



Now, part of the hesitation is that analysts on average are projecting fiscal 2024 sales to fall to $6.8 billion. Last year, the company posted sales of $7.39 billion. However, the optimistic target calls for $8.62 billion. And if the bulls win out, fiscal 2025 revenue could jump to $10.54 billion. For speculators, GFS could be one of the stocks on sale.



<h2>Baidu (BIDU)</h2>



<a href="https://investorplace.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/bidu1600-2.png"><img width="300" height="169" src="https://investorplace.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/bidu1600-2-300x169.png" alt='An image of a laptop on a table with the screen showing the red and blue logo for Chinese Internet company "Baidu", with the background being blurred.'></a>While there&rsquo;s so much talk about artificial intelligence, Baidu (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/bidu-stock-quote/">BIDU</a>) hasn&rsquo;t been a beneficiary, far from it. BIDU&rsquo;s performances for the trailing year and year-to-date have been disappointing. At the same time, the skepticism is understandable. Baidu is based in China and the Chinese economy faces nagging questions concerning its viability.



Nevertheless, speculators who are seeking stocks on sale may want to keep BIDU on their radar. As Baidu&rsquo;s management team mentioned, it&rsquo;s <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2024/04/18/baidu-releases-new-ai-tools-to-promote-application-development.html">gaining traction</a> with its artificial intelligence (<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/ai-stock-quote/">AI</a>) business. Further, it&rsquo;s a consistently profitable enterprise with a robust net margin of 15.1%. Even so, shares trade at a lowly 9.95X forward earnings. Should China&rsquo;s economy show signs of gradual improvement, BIDU could be poised to recover



What&rsquo;s really intriguing is that Baidu, currently trading at 1.89X trailing-year sales, could see its revenue jump to $21.13 billion in fiscal 2024. Also, the most optimistic projections call for sales of $23.51 billion in fiscal 2025. That would imply that BIDU may also be discounted relative to the top line.



<h2>British American Tobacco (BTI)</h2>

For one thing, its 52-week performance is anything but hot. As for the business, the idea that tobacco is cool faded a long time ago. Indeed, anti-tobacco advocates have done an excellent job of reducing the global smoking prevalence rate.



So, why bother with BTI? Fundamentally, the company offers a valuable product. Again, while smoking has lost much of its luster, it remains a popular activity. Plus, not all countries have seen a reduction in prevalence. More importantly to the bottom line, smokers have gravitated toward e-cigarettes and similar alternative products such as heat-not-burn devices.



This is where British American Tobacco can assert itself because traditional tobacco companies can better replicate the analog experience via the &ldquo;digital&rdquo; format. Also, BTI brings great value, trading at a forward earnings multiple of 6.59X, lower than 90.91% of its peers. Combined with a <a href="https://www.dividend.com/stocks/consumer-staples/consumer-products/tobacco/bti-british-amer-tobacco/">forward dividend yield of 10.16%</a>, it makes for an enticing idea.



<h2>Bumble (BMBL)</h2>

Its selling point was that for traditionally oriented relationships, women had to make the first move. This directive was designed to implement parity in relational power structures. However, it also impacted Bumble&rsquo;s viability.



What it basically boils down to is that male users must wait to be contacted. That could be very frustrating as such apps don&rsquo;t abide by a democratic process. In other words, a few &ldquo;prospects&rdquo; will get the lion&rsquo;s share of the attention. Everybody else will get the crumbs, if anything. And that&rsquo;s just going to cause male users to seek other platforms.



That&rsquo;s why I&rsquo;m somewhat optimistic about <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2024/03/28/bumbles-new-ceo-talks-about-her-critical-mission-to-spice-things-up-at-the-company/">Bumble&rsquo;s new CEO</a>, Lidiane Jones. With a few simple tweaks, BMBL could rise to the top by being more gentlemen friendly. Should the execution follow through, the company could potentially hit its high-end sales target of $1.16 billion. Therefore, it could be one of the stocks on sale.



<h2>Chewy (CHWY)</h2>

First, <a href="https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/ECOMPCTSA">e-commerce</a> as a percentage of total retail sales has been marching steadily higher since the second quarter of 2022. Notably, this trend materialized even with inflation and high borrowing costs impeding consumer sentiment.



Second, Americans love spending on their pets. In 2023, total pet industry expenditures in this country hit <a href="https://www.americanpetproducts.org/research-insights/industry-trends-and-stats">$147 billion</a>. That&rsquo;s up noticeably from the prior year&rsquo;s print of $136.8 billion. Further, analysts still project growth, with this year&rsquo;s sales potentially reaching $150.6 billion. By logical deduction, Chewy should perform well.



Unfortunately, it&rsquo;s quite the opposite &ndash; CHWY is a big laggard. Still, with consumers demonstrating year after year that they prioritize the care of their furry friends, it may be time for a rethink. Analysts believe that the current fiscal year should see high-side revenue of $12.48 billion. That&rsquo;s very reasonable given the backdrop, making CHWY one of the stocks on sale.
