Report: Snapchat Now Has More Daily Users Than Twitter

Millenials and teens can argue for days which is the more popular social media platform: Twitter Inc TWTR or Snapchat. However, the most recent statistics gives Snapchat a one-up over Twitter in terms of daily user base.

According to Bloomberg, more than 150 million people use Snapchat on a daily basis, outranking Twitter's estimated user base of less than 140 million.

The statistics aren't official and are based on Bloomberg's sources that are "familiar with the matter" and analysts Bloomberg surveyed. Twitter's popularity based on daily users now ranks below Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp.

The company did acknowledge in the third quarter that around 44 percent of its monthly active users in the top 20 markets use the platform on a daily basis. Management also said at that time it will disclose to investors if there is a significant change in the 44 percent figure but hasn't given an update since.

Shares of Twitter were trading lower by 0.40 percent shortly after Thursday's opening bell and have lost 35 percent since the start of 2016 and nearly 60 percent over the past year.
