Amazon Reveals New 2016 Pilots For Audience Approval, Including Star-Studded 'Last Tycoon'

While the traditional networks decide on their rookies behind closed doors, Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN has always left it to the public. This year will be no different.

The company's Prime streaming service has again opted to let is audiences choose its new series, and on Thursday unveiled the eight new offerings. In addition to six potential shows aimed at kids and families, Amazon officially threw two live-action adult programs into the mix.

Both possible series-to-be, "The Interestings" and "The Last Tycoon," carry big names. "Tycoon" had been generating interest from its pilot, courtesy of leads Matt Bomer and Kelsey Grammer. The series follows a Hollywood Golden Boy as he battles for control of his studio against his boss/father figure during The Great Depression.

"Interestings" is being fronted by Lauren Ambrose as an aspiring actress who lacks glamour, money and talent It is being adapted from Meg Wolitzer's critically acclaimed New York Times best-seller and will co-star David Krumholtz and Jessica Pare.
