Verizon Wireless invested $135 million in network enhancements in Florida during the first half of 2015, highlighted by the rapid expansion of its newest XLTE technology to boost 4G LTE coverage and services for customers throughout the state. XLTE utilizes Verizon's AWS (Advanced Wireless Services) spectrum, which allows Verizon to deliver significantly increased capacity over its high-speed 4G LTE network. This means more customers at once can enjoy peak speeds while sending photos, downloading videos, surfing the Internet and using other popular applications on their smartphones, tablets and other devices. More than 230 new Verizon XLTE sites have been activated so far this year across Florida. Verizon engineers also have completed new large-scale 4G LTE in-building and venue systems at dozens of high-traffic sites such as hospitals, hotels, government buildings and more in recent months. "Delivering the most advanced technology to customers where and when they need it is an intensive and ongoing investment," said Frank Wise, executive director of the Verizon Wireless Florida network. "Our network team is dedicated to serve customers and stay clearly ahead of competitors here." Verizon's Florida network has won many third-party awards for coverage, quality, service and speed. These include honors from PC Magazine, as well as recent studies by from RootMetrics and other independent consumer reporting institutions.
