The contract, awarded competitively, is a direct commercial sale contract
and deliveries for this order will take place during the first six months of
2015.
Exelis will deliver its generation 3 night vision equipment that is designed
for a variety of night operations conducted by military customers around the
world. Gen 3 tube technology is the clearest and most advanced available. It
provides the soldier with superior visibility and greater mobility in
low-light conditions to ensure mission effectiveness. Soldiers equipped with
Gen 3 night vision technology have increased situational awareness and a
significant tactical advantage on the battlefield.
"This is our first contract award of night vision equipment for the
Taiwanese military, and we will work diligently with our partner U&U
Engineering to deliver our renowned Gen 3 quality tubes," said Nick Bobay,
president and general manager of Exelis Night Vision and Communications
Solutions. "We believe this is just the first of many opportunities for
Exelis and U&U to support the Taiwanese military with our night vision
equipment and other products as needed."
Production for this contract will take place at the Exelis night vision
manufacturing facility in Roanoke, Virginia.
