Satcab Deploys Concurrent's UpShift Unified Content Delivery Solution At ZAP

Satcab, a Portuguese based company focused on the design and the delivery of professional, digital media projects, today announced that ZAP, a leading multi-channel video service provider in Africa, has launched Concurrent's UpShift unified content delivery solution to power the region's first Cloud DVR service. ZAP enlisted Satcab and its partner Concurrent, CCUR, a global leader in unified content delivery and video analytics solutions, to provide the end-to-end video solution, integrate it into ZAP's network, and deploy the service to its subscribers. Concurrent's UpShift solution enables ZAP's customers to record live broadcast television programming, store it in the network, access it instantly, and watch it on their own schedule. ZAP's installation represents the first deployment of Concurrent's UpShift solution in the southern part of the African continent. “Together, Concurrent and Satcab are delivering the most innovative video solutions and the most experienced integration services available in the marketplace today,” said Martin Jahn, CEO of Satcab. “Working with ZAP in Africa, we are demonstrating the power of our joint solution offering, supporting a world-class service in a new region, and introducing Cloud DVR to an entirely new audience. We are pleased to be working with ZAP and Concurrent on this pioneering effort.” “We are excited to announce our partnership with ZAP for Cloud DVR and our expanded relationship with Satcab to serve the world's fastest growing economy,” said Dan Mondor, CEO of Concurrent. “As Concurrent's first customer in Africa, ZAP's deployment highlights our continued market momentum in new geographies. ZAP has launched a compelling, first-of-a-kind service in Africa and become a showcase for innovation in the region. We look forward to working closely with them as they continue their roll out of next generation television and multi-screen services.” Concurrent's Cloud DVR solution is a next-generation alternative to legacy DVR set-top boxes that are maintenance prone and offer fixed storage capacities. By placing storage in the network, rather than in the home, operators can reduce truck rolls and maintenance expenses, improve storage efficiency, and deploy lower cost set-top boxes. With unlimited scaling of storage and recording capacity, Concurrent's Cloud DVR solution enables operators to sell expanded DVR capacity, rather than limiting recording space to preset capacities as is the case for traditional DVRs. “ZAP is leading the way by launching the most compelling and innovative video services in the region,” said Nuno Aguiar, Director of Engineering at ZAP. “We selected Satcab and Concurrent to support our Cloud DVR service based on the flexibility of the UpShift solution and the experience both companies have in launching next generation multi-screen video services. We look forward to our continued partnership as we enhance and grow our service offering to reach new customers on any device.” Concurrent's UpShift solution supports video delivery to a wide range of consumer viewing devices from a unified solution architecture. By supporting many content formats, streaming protocols, and network integration interfaces simultaneously, Concurrent's UpShift enables service providers to adapt more quickly to changing market needs and network demands. Concurrent's solution can be used to deploy a wide variety of multi-screen video services, including live broadcast, video-on-demand, start-over, catch-up TV, and Cloud DVR. Concurrent will be exhibiting in the Satcab Booth, #03, at the upcoming Africa Com conference on Nov. 11-13, 2014 in Cape Town, South Africa.
