, a leading provider of consulting services and technology solutions to government and commercial clients, was recently awarded a new task order under the multiple-award Mission Oriented Business Integrated Services Schedule 874. The task order was issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Division of Community Health. It has a value of $14.5 million and a term of one base and three option years. Under this task order, ICF will provide evaluation and dissemination-related training and technical assistance services to states, tribal agencies and community organizations recently awarded grants to fund programs that prevent and control chronic diseases and promote healthy communities. The 93 grant recipients were cumulatively awarded at $93.6 million under three distinct programs: Partnerships to Improve Community Health, Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health, and National Implementation and Dissemination for Chronic Disease Prevention. The activities supported by these programs are designed to achieve three major public health goals: reduce rates of death and disability due to tobacco use; reduce the prevalence of obesity; and reduce the rates of death and disability due to diabetes, heart disease and stroke. “Prevention science in the chronic disease realm is still a relatively new field and the work supported by these grants is vital to our nation's health,” said Carole Harris, vice president for ICF International. “For more than five years, ICF has supported CDC in its efforts to curb the acceleration of preventable chronic disease, the leading cause of death and disability in the United States. We are pleased to help the agency and its grantees continue to expand the evidence basis in this important public health area.”
