Community Health Systems, Inc. CYH announced today that subsidiaries of the Company have executed a definitive agreement to sell their ownership interest in 116-bed Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center and related outpatient services to Capella Healthcare. Local physicians will continue to own an interest in the hospital. Divestiture of the Hartsville, South Carolina, hospital is required under an agreement with the Federal Trade Commission following the Company's January 2014 acquisition of Health Management Associates, Inc. The divestiture will require Federal Trade Commission approval and is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2014, subject to customary closing conditions. The Company does not expect the divestiture to have a meaningful impact on financial operations. Capella Healthcare currently operates 13 acute care and specialty hospitals in six states.
